Because Russians are sloppy.

That's possible, just like it's possible for Assad to gas his own population during a war that he is winning and before an international conference. Or that anti-semitic Trump supporters would deface Jewish monuments with swastikas. Let's assume everyone is stupid and the simplest explanation is always right.

IDK Draugen. I think it's more about sabotaging Macron's Presidency, or possibly the establishment keeping him in line. I doubt the deep-state is worried about a Le Pen Presidency (which would be ineffective anyway,) because there's no polling suggesting she can win. If you're trying to sabotage an possible administration by sabotaging the more likely administration that seems like an unnecessary risk. Nothing here is mutually exclusive though. You can both remind Macron who's in charge AND sabotage Le Pen, but I think it would have been best, all things considered, to just take the chance.

Macron is by far the most likely option and he can find allies in the National Assembly for some things. Le Pen would not get that. FN has no plan that can get it a majority in the legislature. So her Presidency would be a massive blow morally but probably not do too much legislatively.

The fact that this involves a site operated by a pseudo-alt right Twitter user is all the more hilarious.

Let's see... WikiLeaks releases proof the CIA has been tampering with French Elections.

Someone in the CIA *actually* tampers with the French elections (likely, the Shadow Brokers and a pro-Trump faction).

WikiLeaks... decides it needs time to evaluate the leak before publishing (because WikiLeaks is now owned by the NSA...)

Both sides blame Russia and call it good. Nah, this one is Pepe.

BTW, the name 'Atlantic Council' should be familiar.

LOL @ 'Digital Forensic Research Lab' of a Super PAC.

It's part of the 'Zbig Brzezinski School of Calculated Leaks' on the 'Faculty of Dirty Tricks', Langley Campus.

Drain. The. Swamp.

They're going to push the Russia narrative hard no matter who wins:

We should at least consider the hypothesis that someone might have an interest in (1) discrediting leakers generally and (2) providing substance to the Muh Russia narrative, without doing any serious harm except airing the dirty laundry of some doofus who will do what his masters say anyway.

This is how Counter-Intelligence will be remembered.

I don't think there's any need of keeping Macron in line. Where does he deviate from establishment orthodoxy?

The polling doesn't suggest Marine can win, but several articles and pundits in French media have warned that you can't be sure and that another "Trump" might be about to happen. The nervousness is palpable. Contingency plans have certainly be prepared by DGSE/I for the eventuality of a Le Pen victory. They had already been trying to connect Le Pen with Russia and warning of online attacks before ( see here ). I don't think they're willing to take chances, as far as they can help it. Le Pen is worse than Trump, for them, she's the historical bogeyman.

Media deciding to ignore the "Macron Leaks".

Journalists shouldn’t report on the contents of Macron’s leaked documents, for democracy’s sake

Can Macron solve France's economic riddle?
