France 2017 Election Thread

This seems like a dumb move that can do no good and only backfire in a place like France. The French are a pretty cynical bunch of people who know well how their journalists are scum (and their politicians are crooks). These leaks were not going to affect the French election, especially so close to the vote, and such a heavy-handed attempt by some journalists to so overtly cover Macron's ass seems very risky. It probably won't tip the election to Le Pen, but it just reinforces to ordinary Frenchmen just how corrupt their elites and their institutions are.

French journalist says "democracy means alternative facts must be punished in criminal and civil court."

For those who are familiar with the fine points of where the French government's policies are going, does this result mean that the French will blatantly side with Islamists/jihadists during a potential future conflict in, say, Algeria?

Will it lead to criminalization of identarian and other dissenting groups as "terrorist" and radically increased censorship?

Emmanuel Macron
Yes. Banning the opposition is an integral part of Western European Politics.
