How people claim Macron as an outsider when he was a minister for Hollande and lead in the second round match-ups even well before polling in the top two is beyond me but we know how these people work.

Macron leaks which originated on 4chan now hitting the mainstream as wikileaks has chimed in and appeared to have confirmed they are legit.

Obviously the go to take for every trigger happy pundit is "muh russia", but can these really change anything this late in the game? However due to the runoff format the attacker may have had no choice but to wait till macron won the first round in order to ensure the candidate they had info on would be LePen's opponent.

I think it's too late to give a Le Pen victory. Though they should have done this before the first round, to get a Fillon-Le Pen race, which would have given them Fillon but that's better than what they're going to get now.

What it does do though is make it harder for Macron to do anything, especially 'economic liberalization.' He'll win by a greater margin than Hollande did but probably get to do little. Hollande had a party behind him, Macron does not. Unless the likely scenario of a LR-controlled National Assembly brings in a bunch of MPs who endorse that very same agenda, which I won't rule out. However even if he does get a Parliament that's amenable to his program that doesn't mean his policies will be popular.

I think the real winner from this upcoming term won't be Le Pen though. I think it will be a boon for Melenchon, who can be the 'anti-fascist/republican' candidate and opponent of Anglo-style neoliberalism come 2022.

Dogmatic Tower
Far right vs. far left would be truly reflective of where the voters are not only in France but across the Western world. You combine broad opposition to corrupt and vainglorious neoliberal and internationalist elites with a real choice between ideologically rigorous platforms. The center only holds when one or both of the far right or the far left is weak, discredited, or simply missing, and voters who would otherwise support a fascist or a socialist are forced to vote for the lesser of two evils in their minds. But they only ever get a pro-finance panderer.

In any case, the next round of elections across the West will show whether the populist uprising has been crushed or whether it has only grown in strength in the face of defeats and betrayals.

I bet you couldn't get her to name one thing Macron stands for aside from multiculturalism.

Well it seems like God is on Le Pen's side:

Some thoughts about the hacking:

- If there is real damning evidence in the leaks against Macron, why wasn't it released earlier?
- If there isn't, why pick precisely the day before the election?

For the leaks to be related to pro-Marine supporters, we need to be talking of very ignorant and autistic hackers (likely foreigners who didn't bother to check that there is an institutional blackout of political news the day before the election). It also seems that the leak consisted of a single dump in Pastebin and there was no coordinated distribution to the media. Are they simply amateurs who got lucky with a phishing scheme and just want to generate some drama?

More likely, it came from within the state as a pre-emptive measure to sabotage a potential Le Pen presidency with claims of foreign interference. The 'deep state' is just as entrenched in France as in the US and the media is also completely under control of the Macron faction, greatly facilitating a potential #resist platform.

Other interested parties would be the US deep state( who had already been instructed by Obama to infiltrate French electoral politics ), the Ukrainians, or some other anti-Russian organization. Apparently there were Russian words hidden in the documents' metadata .

That there is a state actor, or another powerful organization involved is suggested by the recent and probably related case of Macron's supposed offshore account. Certain documents appeared on 4chan linking Macron to an offshore account in the Bahamas and containing an apparently fake signature. The metadata of the pdfs, however, revealed that they were created with very high-end machines , inaccessible to Le Pen supporters.

So, again, if the Russkies did it, one has to ask why they'd be so incompetent that they couldn't convincingly fake a signature. What's likely going on instead is a serious disinformation campaign to discredit the opposition.
