France literally invented liberalism. The eternal Franco is the root of all the west's problems.

Le Pen winning a plurality or majority of the popular vote but either shut out by a coalition or bogged down once in office would be an interesting contrast with Trump.

While it's still unlikely at this juncture if Le Pen wins I could easily see the semi-Presidential system of the Fifth Republic get replaced by a Parliamentary system a la the Fourth Republic. Le Pen won't get anything significant done because she'll still have no real support in Parliament. This would give Parliament more power to seek reform, though I must admit I don't know a lot about the French constitution.

What would really put the cat amongst the pigeons would be a Hamon-Mélenchon alliance with one of them dropping out. Their ideologies are very close, and the remaining one would have a good chance of going through to the 2nd round, where MLP would be clear favourite to beat him. But precisely for that reason, while the two dwarves keep teasing that possibility, I doubt they will have the balls to follow through.
