I have not been paying attention in recent days, does anyone know if this Fillon scandal is a biggie?

It's a big news story for sure and Fillon stated that if he ends up indicted he'll drop out of the race. The consensus is any charges are unlikely to come in time before the election.

Here's an English-language story:

RIP Fillon, I want to have hope about the inevitable Macron/LePen runoff but I don't tbh. At least France will have a clear cut choice even if I suspect they will blow it.

I am still crossing my fingers for Melenchon to somehow sneak into the runoff with Le Pen

Can Emmanuel Macron win the French Election?

With the Socialist party turning sharply left, and the centre-right stuck with a wounded candidate, the head of the youthful new movement En Marche! certainly has a route to the Elysée Palace, but can he beat Marine Le Pen?

Can Benoît Hamon inspire a new, inclusive French secularism?

At the heart of this presidential showdown are two competing visions of laïcité , and the space accorded to Islam and multiculturalism in French society

This is a long read.

The man who could make Marine Le Pen president of France

Florian Philippot is the strategist behind the rebranding of the extreme right Front National as a populist, anti-elite movement. But don’t mistake him for a moderate

If he wins the election, despite this:
I will have zero hope left for a non-radical and non-bloody solution to the French problem. How can you even seriously think about voting for such a degenerate ?

France - the decay of an once proud nation - the picture.

My God, I already thought Macron was just about as bad as it got before seeing this.

After living in western France for a year several years ago and thinking of the problems France faces from time to time since, I've now basically come to the opinion the Houellebecq's prediction of the future of France from his novel, "Submission," is likely the most accurate, that France just apathetically accepts Islamic occupation. The French are vocal loudmouths in all things political, yet when push comes to shove they lack strong action. The modern French condition is one of sheer apathy to do anything besides talking about doing things. In addition, laïcité must be one of the most retarded ideas the nouveau-Jacobins continue to hold on to, it's been a failure since it's inception as it is inordinately provocative towards all religious people, and other countries had already showed how to properly do separation of church and state without being overly provocative and antagonistic. In addition, the French Left will never allow any honest discussion of Le Pen or the FN, as many French Leftists on social media or in the streets simply call her a nazi, or continue to make her pay for comments her father said decades ago. I don't see much hope for France as too many of the men they produce these days seem to be all blue-pilled feminized pussies who like talk a big game but are proud to fight like girls.
