Took a while to reply to this because I cba and couldn't figure out how a severely autistic young man like Elliot wouldn't have had just as much of a hard time in a past before "women's lib," as if women's lib is responsible for the dating problems of people afflicted with mutism in social situations. At best, he'd still have to try to pull off the "strong, silent" act to the girl that parents arranged for him (since women apparently shouldn't have the right to make choices for themselves, lest a clique of right-leaning internet autists get angsty at those choices). This act would fall apart at the first meltdown. With booze, I did manage to get with some guys when I was younger. With the mutism and meltdowns on my part, sex couldn't keep those relationships together. It sucks for everyone, regardless of women's lib. I suspect Elliot would have been cheated on with someone more adept the moment the arranged girl noticed he was flailing, especially if she were a norm. Women's lib didn't invent adultery and gaming.
