Yes, I saw that blurb on MSN's front page, along with another one titled: "The Latest Eco-Friendly Cars" (paraphrasing). Yesterday they had one titled, "Are You A Metrosexual" and "Women Beat Men At This".

In Layman's terms: MSN's front page is obviously geared for airheady females.
"Homophobe" is an inacurate term to describe anti-homosexuals because the term implies that anti-homos have a fear of homos, or in other words, the emotion of fear/terror arises when an anti-homo thinks about or sees a homosexual. This is false, no anti-homos experience the emotion of fear towards homos, but rather, feel disgust, which is a completely different emotion from fear. Some anti-homosexuals don't fear the homo, but the deity they believe in which they believe want them to have a negative opinion of homos. So in this case, the fear is directed towards the deities, but not the homos. Thus, "homophobe" is a very innacurate word to describe anti-homosexuals. Perhaps the word "homodisgust" should be used instead. I am a mild homodisgust.
I had written a post similar to what you've just described on another forum and received nothing but criticism because of it. You are right in saying that the word "homophobe", with regards to homosexuals, is inaccurate; I'd go a step further by saying that in layman's terms, the word "homophobe" would mean fear of man. Why would acts of animosity be called "phobic" in the first place, for that term relates to fear. It is not fear that causes public animosity towards homosexuals; in most cases it's feelings of disgust (as you put it) and anger. Perhaps there wasn't an "-ist" word to define this sort of behavior. "Sexual Orientationist" doesn't sound that good to begin with.
