www.haaretzdaily.com U.S. OFFICIAL: Iran an Arm Missiles with Biological Warheads by Nathan Guttman, Haaretz Correspondent and Reuters 19-09-2003
WASHINGTON: Iran has the capability of arming ballistic missiles with biological warheads, Paula DeSutter, U.S. Ass't Sec. of State for Verification and Compliance, told Congress on Wednesday.
Intelligence sources say that such warheads are hard to deliver. DeSutter told the committee of members of both houses of Congress as well as Israeli Knesset members that Iran is in violation of the Nuclear Nonproliferation Treaty (NPT) and has been working to acquire secretly nonconventional weapons of all kinds. `````````````````````````````````According to president Bush's National Security Strategy Doctrine, then, Iran constitutes an 'imminent danger' and we will initiate a first strike. There's only one problem: Iran is B I G. We don't usually get ourselves involved with B I G countries, especially when we have so few in that Willing Coalition who can actually fight!
Perhaps there's something in the wind...The chief of the U.S. Army Reserve has warned all 205,000 soldiers that the Army Reserve is "on a war footing". And, that he wants only the physically fit to be part of any new training. www.usatoday.com/news/world/iraq/2003-09-15-reserves-chief_x.htm
Iran is exhibiting 'imminent danger', no?

Good for them. Why shouldn't Iran have nuclear weapons ? After all, the USA is the only country which ever used one against an enemy, and Israel is violating all its United Nations requirements, so who the hell is the USA and Israel to say Iran is in " non-compliance " ? Nuclear club - US, Russia, France, UK, Pakistan, India, China ( thanks to Clinton ), North Korea, Israel, and possibly Italy. Not to mention the leaks of missinf Soviet suitcase bombs, not one of which has ever been located. Why is it not Iran's soverign right to have nuclear weapons ? I hope they get them and blow up any one that tries to take them out, because that's exactly what the US or Israel or anyone else would do. The hypocrisy makes me sick.

You mean another country in the Middle East might begin to be on equal military footing with Israel?? The horror! I'm calling my rabbi, Moishe Goldsilverdiamondbergsteinwitzrosenbloom. He'll fix their wagons!

I believe this article from Ha'aretz to be more fearmongering nonsense from the Likudniks and their amen corner here. The easter egg hunt they tried to pull three months ago with claims that Hussein had sent his unconventional weapons to Syria has turned out to be another lie spread by neo-con radio and administration propagandists and dupes via Fox News. With this they are taking a different tack.
If the missiles were equipt with nukes that would be one thing. (for Israel) As for biological weapons, I believe that to be an extremely overrated threat. This material is being spread around as part of an orchestrated plan by neo-cons like Michael Ledeed and the supporters of Netanyahu to get the public prepped and stirred up enough to the next objective in the War for Jews and Oil (in that order) - Iran and maybe Syria too.

Sertorius: you make a valid point about America being the only nation to actually USE nuclear bombs against another nation: Japan.
And I agree that other nations have a right to have weapons also...after all, I heard the other day that the biggest arms dealers (and sellers) in the world is America...and we DARE to tell other nations that They can't have weapons? We probably sold them the wherewithal in the lst place.
I doubt we'll do very much against Iran...the administration is having enough trouble 'splaining that WMD baloney. Besides, Rummy can't seem to get that help he needs. Full plate, and all that, doncha know?
