I always thought this guy was cool. He rejects the Hollywood mentality, takes on unusual and challenging roles, abandoned living in the modern Amerikwa for a farm in France and mostly all the movies he stars in are excellent and also hits. Hey, Johnny, I'm with ya bro on your analogy right below here....although I know that you know what the American dumbazz "patriot" Rushanitty's are going to say about you!!!
Johnny Depp Likens U.S. to 'Dumb Puppy'
BERLIN - American actor Johnny Depp (news) likened his native country to a "dumb puppy that has big teeth" in an interview published Wednesday, ridiculing Washington's confrontation with France, where he lives, over the war in Iraq (news - web sites).
The "Edward Scissorhands" and "Sleepy Hollow" star, who spends much of his time in the south of France with his companion, Vanessa Paradis (news), and their two small children, told the German magazine he couldn't see himself paying more than short visits to his Los Angeles residence in the present political climate.
"America is dumb, is something like a dumb puppy that has big teeth ââ¬â that can bite and hurt you, aggressive," Depp was quoted as saying.
Depp recalled that French fries were renamed "Freedom" fries in the House cafeteria on Capitol Hill at the height of U.S. anger over France's refusal to back the administration of President George W. Bush (news - web sites) over the war in Iraq.
"Nothing made me happier than when I read that ââ¬â grown men and grown women in positions of power in the United States government," Depp said. "I was ecstatic because they revealed themselves as idiots."
Depp said he wanted his two children, ages 1 and 4, to experience the United States "like it's a kind a toy ââ¬â a broken toy maybe. Investigate a little bit, check it out, get this feeling and then get out."

As somebody who has to live with dumbass American yuppies, I fully agree with Depp!
Where else in the world can you find a person of French decent talk about how "all Frenchmen are stupid and lame"? Seriously, white yuppie Americans will actually attack their ancestral nation and reply with a "well I'm 100% American" type bullsh*t. Sorry people, but American is not an ethnicity. But what else do you expect for a system that tells whites to deny their ethnic heritage? Yuppies define their identity by how big their SUV is!

Perun, I'm just waiting for the Rushannity Patriots to start burning their copies of "Sleepy Hollow" and "From Hell" when the cameras are in place and O'Reilly says "go!". Then, of course, we shall know, if we didn't already, that America is worse than a "dumb puppy"....she's actually a "Vicious Hyena".

You know, I've always wondered why can't Americans be more like Europeans. Seriosuly, I've always admired much about Europe and its culture(well traditional culture) and always thought it was a shame that America has turned its back on its European heritage. Yet I'm called "anti-American" for saying this. sigh
Seriously, whenever I hear a debate between an American and a European, I'm almost always agreeing with the European. Even my political views are more European in nature than American.
Oh and speaking about O'Reilly, did you know he actually whinned about how the UN(or somebody) named Norway as the best country in the world to live? Seriously, and he brought on the Norweigan ambassador on to "debate" this; how its wrong and that America is number one in the world. How pathetic! :thd:

I had to admire the two French folks who disrobe at an airport in protest of the thuggish treatment. Two seperate incidents: the man yanked his pants down and the woman pulled off her blouse. Both chraged with felonies I believe.
Depp clearly has intellect and individuality. I was under the impression that he supported leftists, meaning communism, reduistribution of wealth through taxes and welfare programs for "minorities". But, I have to agree with his conclusions posted above.

I've admired traditional European culture as well, chiefly Dutch and Scandinavian. Despite the fact that it sickens me that a lot of Europe has sunk to the levels that America is mired in, I think Europe has a lot more to offer in some respects. Granted, I would not want to be convicted for making semitically-incorrect statements, but then again "free" and "democratic" America is following Europe and Canada's lead in thought crime prosecution.
The "I'm a 100% American" line is pure b.s. So true; "American" is not an ethnicity. What is sad is that European immigrants who came to America, many of them, turned their backs on their European heritage and became "Americanized". Speaking the mother tongue of the country would've sufficed, but they discarded too much to be saved. I was fortunate to grow up in a largely German section of Queens, N.Y. in the 1970's and early 1980's when the traditional culture was still preserved in many places. The European culture seemed so different but had a "homey" effect on me that still lives with me today.

Depp's criticism would resonate more if he coupled it with returning all the American dollars he has earned from selling his movies here. Somehow I doubt he'll do that though.

Well-said, and much agreed.

Why should he? Let him take America for all it has to offer just as America has returned the "favour" to the rest of the world. Until America changes its ways it has no rights to demand others do so...

Or he could just cash in his American dollars for Euros.....I still think they're worth more than a dollar. Depp's a great actor IMO and his movies are great. Let him have his say and let him keep his dough, he earned it. As far as European culture within the United States; it's long been over. American culture, through the dictation of Hollywood, has broken apart European identity in most White Euro-Americans.

That's largely true in the affluent suburbs which are populated by yuppies, whose whole culture is based on Hollywood. But in many lower-middle class and working class neighborhoods, there's still traces of European culture and pride left. I've noticed this alot in Slavic and Irish neighborhods.

What appalling gibberish! Have you people been attending night school at the International Academy of ZOG? American IS most assuredly a nationality. The only problem is that most 'Americans' who reside here legally, to say nothing of the hordes of 'undocumented workers' (Oy!), are NOT American. American means Northwestern European, i.e., British (Germano-Celtic, not West Indian!).
The hapless Americans were first swamped by other Europeans, then subjected to a qualitatively different invasion - the post 1965 browning of America. I am continually annoyed by the insufferably vulgar and obtrusive 'patriotism' manifested by (Southern) Italian-'Americans' who are wont to regale the (relatively) undiluted descendants of the founders of America with such edifying witticisms as 'If you don't like America, go back to where you came from!' - chutzpah once thought to be worthy only of the international race of pawn brokers.
I must here plug Wilmot Robertson's magisterial treatise "The Dispossessed Majority". In it, he remarkably remarks that which should not be deemed at all remarkable - that an Englishman fresh off the boat from Liverpool is far more of an American than a Sicilian whose forebears have greased the American landscape for the better part of the last two centuries.
Please do not conflate arbitrary geopolitical constructs with nations! A German born in Africa is no less a German, and a Chinaman, W (estern)o (riented)g (entleman) of the Hindu persuasion, Pole, Italian or even a Dane born here is no American.
Of course, the American NATION is beyond the point of return. The best that they can hope for is the establishment of the sort of 'America' you people seem to believe has been here all along - a hodgepodge of every quasieuropean people Europe can spit out.
And please spare me your petulant whines of wounded pride. Every last one of you would strenuously object to having your 'home' countries overrun with teeming masses from other European nations, and no one more vociferously than Gospodjica Seltzer. Do not begrudge the Americans the same right of national sovereignty that you would insist on for yourselves.
As for Johnny Depp, he's just an actor. Back when we were healthy and sane, actors were deemed to inhabit a social stratum intermediate between that of pick pocket and prostitute.

Our politics since the creation of the motion picture bear out the ancient wisdom behind that attitude.
