Sorry Faust, living in L.A., I can tell you that the L.A.(tino) Times is probably the least reliable rag in the country when it comes to polls. The Times said Prop 187 (to deny illegals welfare, etc.) was way down in the polls, by 20 points or so from what I remember. It passed by 20 points (about 60-40). It had Gore up by over 10% the day before the 2000 election. The Times had Davis up by over 15% in the Governor's race ... well, he squeaked by the crappy Simon. The Times had the "Three Strikes Law" going down in flames. That law sends any three time felon to jail for 25 (minimum) to life. It passed by an enormous margin, despite blacks and browns getting tremendous airplay regarding the discrimination inherent in such a drastic measure. The Times makes no pretense at all toward presenting the truth in its stories, so you can bet they go ahead and make sure their polls are "conducted" in a fashion that will give them the results they crave. What the Times thinks it can do, is make people feel as if they're out of step if they're not going along with what their "polls" show, what their editorials present as the way to go.

If the election isn't rigged, CA should end up having Conan for Governor. How fitting.

Bustamante is probably well behind Arnie amongst likely voters. Of course, all we're bombarded with out here is Arnie's days of wine, women, pot, and orgies. Nothing on Bustamante concerning Mecha, his use of the word "nig*er" (no way he could slip up like that unless he were using that epithet quite frequently), and a few other amusing misadventures in the career of the 85 IQ favored son of Aztlan.

I look at it all as a sign of the collapse I see rolling over the entire country.
