Violent crime is down, again (2001, FBI, but murder is slightly up). Down 50% from 1993. How is that possible, considering that the most crime-prone demographics are growing?
A snippet:
** The report showed a 10 percent decrease in the violent crime rate for whites. It also included an 11.6 percent decline for blacks and a 3.9 percent increase for Hispanics. However, those figures were not given the highest grade of confidence because of analytical formulas that suggest they could be flawed.
Assault was down 10 percent, but victim reports reflected a 13 percent increase in injuries.**
I see three explanations:
1) Lots more criminals in prison. Many of the hardcore criminals are locked up.
2) Lower unemployment. An unemployed black youth is a hardcore criminal; an employed black youth is just a petty criminal.
3) Abatement in the War on Drugs. Without so much police interference, drug markets function more as legitimate businesses.

No mention that blacks are 50 times as likely to commit interracial violence.

I think your 3 points nail it HH, I would add:
4) Demographics. Especially widespread use of abortion.
