Hello,
I just wanted to let you know that a new CD compilation including all recordings ever made by the Meistersextett has been released in Germany by the firm RBM Bayer Music Group. It consists of 4 CDs and it is a real treasure. Among the songs there is "Hand in Hand" which is the German version of "Cheek to Cheek" and many other heartwarming romantic tunes. The quality is relatively good, considering the producers decided not to modify the sound by means of digital manipulation. Rather they limited themselves to noise reduction. The result is remarkably good overall, considering they are not working with masters but with actual 78rpm recordings, which were provided by a Mr Czada, a (now deceased) friend of Robert Biberti. This Mr Czada started collecting Comedian Harmonists and later Meistersextett records way back in the 1930s. This CD collection includes a booklet with the texts of every song, and full notes. It can be obtained from: http://www.bayermusicgroup.de/kat20/artnr0...0/rbm463200.htm Enjoy this great music from before the destruction of Europe.
