Episcopal Convention works against "Sin of Racism"

**Work continues on the 'sin of racism'
Richelle Thompson Episcopal News Service **
The work toward eradicating the sin of racism continues at the 74th General Convention.
Committee members of Social and Urban Affairs voted unanimously Wednesday to send to the House of Deputies an amended resolution A010, which calls on the church to continue anti-racism training and to reaffirm its ââ¬Åhistoric commitment to eradicate racial injustice in the Church and in secular society.ââ¬Â
ââ¬ÅI believe this is the most important unfinished business our church has to deal with,ââ¬â¢Ã¢â¬â¢ said the Rev. Randy Dales of New Hampshire and a committee co-chair.
Committee members listened to the testimony Tuesday night of a dozen witnesses from throughout the church about the progress -- and failures -- of fighting racism.
ââ¬ÅItââ¬â¢s important to keep this in front of the church,ââ¬â¢Ã¢â¬â¢ said Garfield Stuart, an alternate from the Diocese of Upper South Carolina. ââ¬ÅVery often, we still exist in denial, saying racism doesnââ¬â¢t happen if we have one or two friends who are black or there are a couple of black families in our church. Most church leadership still hasnââ¬â¢t participated [in the anti-racism training] and continues to find excuses not to.ââ¬Â
Several of the witnesses asked the committee to put more accountability into the resolution.
ââ¬ÅIââ¬â¢d like to see more teeth in the resolution,ââ¬â¢Ã¢â¬â¢ said Edward Cahill, an alternate from the Diocese of East Texas. ââ¬ÅRacism is still a major problem in the south -- and in the north.ââ¬Â
The anti-racism subcommittee responded with an amendment to the resolution requiring anti-racism training -- or a pledge to complete it within a year of appointment -- by all people seeking election or appointment to the several standing commissions, other committees of Executive Council, related boards and auxiliary organizations.
During the hearing, Jayne Oasin, the social justice officer on the Church Center staff, recommended all dioceses make anti-racism training a part of their diocesan canons. Some already have taken key steps to incorporate the training into the fabric of the diocese, such as requiring search committees to participate in anti-racism education.
ââ¬ÅAn anti-racism course is not a vaccination,ââ¬Â cautioned Betty Hart, the Province III Anti-Racism Coordinator. ââ¬ÅIt is an ongoing conversation in our lives."
In other business, the committee approved sending an amended resolution (A008) concerning the repeal of mandatory federal sentencing guidelines to the House of Deputies for consideration. The amended resolution combines A008 and A127, which also concerns mandatory sentencing, and reads, ââ¬Åthe 74th General Convention urges the Congress of the United States to repeal the mandatory federal sentencing guidelines used in federal criminal matters and directs the Office of Government Relations to work for such repeal in order to give federal judges more discretion in sentencing offenders, and to overcome the current racially discriminatory impact of these guidelines."
The committee also heard spirited testimony Wednesday about stem cell research resolutions (A014, C020 and C021). The subcommittee is working to merge the three resolutions and offer amendments. Other hearings included Ministry to Prisoners and their Families (A125); Youth Charged and Convicted as Adults (A126); Labor: The Working Poor (C030); and Stewardship: The Protection of Animals from Cruel Treatment (D016). The resolutions were referred back to subcommittees for further consideration.

Here's a link of an atheist group also calling racism a sin. http://www.atheists.org/church/race.html
**If the human species is to survive, it is clear that religious reflexes and religious modes of thought must be inhibited. We should not deceive ourselves, however, into thinking that all will be well if we can but eliminate religion. If the theories of sociobiology be correct, we will still have to fight against the bias built into our genes -- the bias that makes it easier to respond negatively to people who differ from us, the bias that makes it easier to follow a leader than to think for ourselves. Fortunately, the genetic bias -- if it exists -- most certainly can be overridden by education and psychotherapies of various sorts.
The time is past when we could judge people on the basis of race. We are all members of the same endangered species, the human race, and we must all make accommodation for each other in various ways. **
We could go on for hours with examples. Fact is, atheists are far more liberal, anti-white and pro-immigration than Chrisitians could ever dream of being. If we lived in an all-atheist country, we'd be Zimbabwe by now.

My purpose in posting this article was not to start another tiresome "Atheists Vs. Christians" war. This article is about the Episcopalian Church. Are you an Episcopalian? If not, why do you care?
but since you started it...
Fact is, atheists are far more liberal and pro-immigration than Chrisitians could ever dream of being.
Then it's a good thing atheists have so little money, power, or influence, unlike Christian groups. Then we'd really be in trouble.
I have yet to meet an atheist that belonged to some organized atheist group, or see an atheist house of "non-worship."

Which Bible verse says racism is a sin?
Where is this racism that the Episcopalian Church is so concerned with?
Don't they think there are more pressing concerns, like removing sodomites from the Church?

"Which Bible verse says racism is a sin?"
.....Well; there's... no; ummm... how about... no, not that one either; there are none... Not the Episcopalian idiots operate upon Scripture, mind you... ;)

Don't worry then, Kurt. Whatever money, power and influence that still existed in the liberal Episcopalian church just went out the window with their recent homo bishop appointment.

I'm suprised it didn't go out the window in December 2000 when they made Brittney Spears a saint because she was a "virgin". The Archbishop of Cantebury is also a practicing neo-pagan Druid. This church has gone to :dung: in my opinon and commands no respect from me! :thd:

Catholic Social Teaching The Judeo-Christian tradition is steeped in images of migration. Papal teaching has reflected biblical images of migration, including the plight of those fleeing danger and persecution. Pope Leo XIII's 1891 encyclical Rerum Novarum included the right to migrate to sustain one's family. Exsul Familia, Pius XII's response to the unprecedented populations of refugees and displaced persons following World War II, called the Holy Family the "archetype of every refugee family." And Pope John Paul II, speaking in Centesimus Annus about the condition of refugees and immigrants, said that "no one can say that he is not responsible for the well-being of his brother or sister."--from the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops website

Look, any "church" that espouses doctrine which welcomes queers or other sexual deviants into itself is nothing more than a spotted whore.
That filth does not reside in the Bride of Christ.
Never Has, Never Will.
A Holy God is against Racemixers, Queers, Pedophiles......
A Tolerant god accepts racemixers, queers, pedophiles......
Is there a difference?
Which God do you serve?
I serve the Intolerant God.

George Weigel(??) talks about this in his book "The Courage to be Catholic" about how any religion that deconstructs its theological teachings to suit the latest cultural trends often leads itself to irrelevance and spiritual decadence.
This is one thing I greatly admire about the Orthodox Church, they don't move an inch when it comes to theology!
A good work to read is Vladika Averki's On the Modern World. You maybe interested, even though you're probally not an Eastern Christian golfball
In fact this is a typical Orthodox Christian viewpoint:
** "The Faith we preserve has not developed or changed. The Church has not been seduced by Plato or Aristotle or Freud or Darwin or Marx. She has never found it necessary to follow current trends and fashions to make Her Message appealing. Indeed, She is no beggar of souls. Moreover, She belongs to no century. She is not, therefore, a Twentieth century Church, but the Church in the twentieth century. She exists to change, not to be changed. The Orthodox Church has a Message for the modern world, the same one Christ preached almost two thousand years ago---ââ¬ÅRepent! The Kingdom of God is at hand!ââ¬Â Here is the essence of the Gospel, here is the answer to poverty, crime, racism, war, leadership, mores and manners, sex and feminism, egalitarianism, fraternalism and supposed liberty---to all the human problems, national and international. The Churchââ¬â¢s answers are sacred not secular, because Her voice is the voice of eternity.

I thought you wrote that Jews control the money supply, are omnipotent, and influence politics and popular culture? You know, they are the atheists in the USA. I read 40% of Jews are atheist.

These people are hypocrites within the context of their own propaganda. We never hear these witnesses defending White people against slurs, murder, rape, prison rape, negative stereotyping. When was the last time you heard an Episcopalian campaigning to get White South Africans or Rhodesians out of those racist hell holes? There are hundreds of examples of the silence of these brainwashed, thoughtless, boot licking, poseurs of the good. Yuck. They make me sick.

If the Episcopalians can support same-sex relationships, why can't they support same-race (i.e. racist) relationships?

Who knows? Most of the left-wing agenda in the churches is more based on marxist and/or new-age :dung: , which make no sense at all!

You are right, I am not Eastern Orthodoxy... or Eastern Christian.
\However, it is heartening to see that other churches out there do not rush to embrace the Judeo-Christian culture of mainstream religion.
I wonder if they are labeled as haters or bigots.....

Well not as much as other Churches are. I believe the Catholic Church recieves the largest brunt of secularist assaults.
The Orthodox Church is largely unknown to most Americans, although it is one of fastest growing Christian sects in America. As you read above, the Orthodox Church can be very militant and staunch in their positions.
A good example of this is this Russian Orthodox article calling on devout Christians to reject television. As the introduction states
"What is destroying America today is not the liberal breed of one-world politicians, or the IMF bankers, or the misguided educational elite, or the World Council of Churches; these are largely symptoms of a greater disorder. If there is any single institution to blame, it is, to use the cozy diminutive, ââ¬ÅTVââ¬Â. "
The Orthodox Church is not looking for media popularity, if their views bring them down then so be it! They'll go down proudly like Christ and the early martyrs did. They believe they speak the truth, and that it is in human nature to seek truth, so the Church will withstand any assault as long as it speaks the truth. Only by altering or mis-speaking the truth will the Church fall.
I'm not trying to convert you or anything(although that wouldn't hurt :D ), I just believe that Western Christians(especially the real traditional ones) could learn so much from our Eastern heritage(as we have from the West).

;) I believe David Duke visited your country ( Russia ) and found some folks that shared similar views as Western Christians do.
