This is a sort-of continuation of the thread asking if OD'ers are capitalists.
Writer Ivor Benson noted in his book "The Zionist Factor" that big, global capitalism BECOMES communistic. It freezes out Mom-and-Pop stores, and all other competition, until Big Company X is the only game in town. In that sense, instead of "freeing" a smaller American town, the arrival of Big Company X's super-mega-store on the outskirts of that town almost spells the arrival of Marxism -- the effect is the same.
The above, of course, does not include the awesome political power that comes with being a big, giant corporation, with lobbyists and important insider connections to various governors, judges, Senators and Congressmen.
Big Global Capitalism is semi-Marxist, and was brought to you by....uhhhhmm....the Mormons! [Mormons with funny names ending in "-stein" and "-berg" :) ]

Excellent points, Generalissimo!
'Capitalism' and 'Communism' have joined such terms as 'Conservative', 'Liberal', 'Christian', and 'Patriot' in the fetid morass of semantic ambiguity from whence none may escape. 'Capitalism', as our flagwaving jugheads understand it, has nothing to do with Main Street commerce, i.e., free enterprise, but everything to do with Monopoly and Finance Capitalism, two particularly maladorous :dung: euphemisms for Communism. The Jew Ass Oy Veh is about as 'Capitalist' as Israel is a 'Democracy' or the Christ Killing Jews are the dumb ass Christians' 'Elder brothers in faith'. Oy! Double Oy!

Armand Hammer!
I mean, he's dead but his stupidity goes marching on.
He thought the world should be run by managers and he didn't care if they were Marxists or country club Republicans.
Franco's emphasis on the "Mom and Pop" stores that global capitalism destroys is correct. When we have rule by managers of conglomerates the "Mom and Pop"- style capitalism is destroyed -- another way of saying local culture is pounded flat by massive entities that serve only very wealthy nomads. Under global capitalism or communism, local culture dies. So what's the real difference unless you are a plutocrat or a commisar?
Charley Reese touched on this years ago in a column I wished I'd have saved (it was one of his pre-Internet pieces.) Essentially Charley said that globalist capitalism is turning America into a company town and if the company don't like you you're screwed. If it sounds familiar it's because Communism worked the same way.
