We're often told that the promised land of racial relations lies in the U.S. armed forces, where people ascend on merit, regardless of "skin color." Conservatives love this crud, pointing to "black" man Colin Powell, who's white enough to blend in at the Lincoln family reunion if you squint your eyes. But recent events cast doubt. First, we know of the stats telling us that the U.S.'s elite fighters are White, whilst blacks do, um, "support" work. Then we see such stuff as the Muslim freako who tried to bomb tents (a proud member of the forces), the Jessica Lynch fiasco (anyone get a look at the multi-culti band of soldiers that made the wrong turn? it's a rainbow of incompetence!) and now, this --- one "Antoine" Boykins, cuttin' cords for God knows what reason. Don't know of the good lance corporal's race, but I'm guessing he's from that race that belongs at the kiddie table of life, the blacks:
Marine admits tampering with parachute
CAMP LEJEUNE, N.C. (AP) ââ¬â A Marine charged with cutting the lines of parachutes that were to be used in a training jump pleaded guilty Wednesday to assault and reckless endangerment. Lance Cpl. Antoine Boykins, 21, of Baltimore pleaded guilty to nine counts of reckless endangerment, four counts of aggravated assault and one count of destruction of government property.
The judge, Col. Alvin Keller, told Boykins that he could face 31 years in prison, forfeiture of pay, reduction of rank and dishonorable discharge. The hearing was continuing Wednesday morning.
The plea deal was approved last month by the commanding general of the 2nd Marine Expeditionary Force, but kept confidential until the hearing. A court-martial scheduled last month was canceled.
Boykins originally was charged with 13 counts of attempted premeditated murder, 13 counts of reckless endangerment, 13 counts of aggravated assault and other crimes.
Charges against another Marine, Lance Cpl. Julian Ramirez, 25, of Los Angeles, were dismissed in April.
