The problem with this article is that they did not break it down into races. Blacks are more sexually driven than whites and East Asians. Also, from my readings, it seems that in White and East Asian societies, women place a lot more emphasis on men with higher social status/higher earning potential (higher IQ), while in Black societies, women place more emphasis on men who are physically stronger because during Black evolution in Africa, strength was more advantageous than intellect: since food was plentiful in the tropical regions and since shelter was not a big problem, there was not much selection for higher intelligence (it did not take much brains to pluck fruit from a tree or to spear animals); but, high physical strength was required to fight other tribes that were present in large numbers. As such, Black females chose strong Black men, and not necessarily smarter ones.

In the North where Whites and East Asians evolved, there was great selection pressures for higher intelligence during the last glaciation (the Wurm glaciation) because it took larger brains to figure out how to survive in that type of weather. So, if females wanted to survive and wanted their offspring to survive, they had to choose men with brains over men with great physical strength. Of course, the emotion of "love" probably evolved in the earlier stages of evolution, which allowed for females to care for their offspring. Love seems to go back all the way to simple mammals, even birds, who have a natural instinct to protect their youngs.

Anyway, here is the article:

Is infidelity ‘natural’ for men?

Study sharpens debate on men, sex and gender roles

By Shankar Vedantam THE WASHINGTON POST

Aug. 1 — A fierce debate about whether jealousy, lust and sexual attraction are hardwired in the brain or are the products of culture and upbringing has recently been ignited by the growing influence of a school of psychology that sees the hidden hand of evolution in everyday life.

FRESH SPARKS flew last month when a study of more than 16,000 people from every inhabited continent found that men everywhere — whether single, married or gay — want more sexual partners than women do. “This study provides the largest and most comprehensive test yet conducted on whether the sexes differ in the desire for sexual variety,” wrote lead researcher David P. Schmitt, an evolutionary psychologist at Bradley University in Peoria, Ill. “The results are strong and conclusive — the sexes differ, and these differences appear to be universal.”
