Spencer arrested on gun charge

BY BILL HESS

Herald/Review

SIERRA VISTA -- The head of the American Border Patrol was arrested Saturday and booked into jail on three counts of disorderly conduct with a weapon, a count of endangerment and a count of criminal damage.

Glenn Spencer, who lives south of Sierra Vista is being held in the sheriff's Sierra Vista jail pending his initial appearance today, said Carol Capas, spokeswoman for the Cochise County Sheriff's Department.

No one was injured in the reported shooting, and Spencer did not resist being arrested around 8:30 a.m. Saturday, she said.

The incident that led to Spencer's arrest began about 9:30 p.m. Friday when a sheriff's deputy returned home after going off duty, Capas said, adding the deputy lives near Spencer.

After arriving home, the deputy heard what he believed was a gunshot, Capas said. The deputy then went outside and reportedly heard a "second gunshot east of his home."

The deputy called the Sheriff's Department.

When other officers arrived, they attempted to contact Spencer to no avail, Capas said.

The deputies left a note on a door at Spencer's home asking him to call them so they could obtain information about the reported gunshots, Capas said.

On Saturday morning, a woman who is the deputy's neighbor went to the deputy's home and asked about the gunshots on Friday night, Capas said. The woman told the deputy that she heard several shots Friday night, and she had found what she believed to be gunshot damage to her garage.

The deputy again called the Sheriff's Department and officers arrived. The deputy also accompanied the officers to Spencer's house.

The officers came upon several empty shell casings on Spencer's property while they were attempting to contact him, Capas said.

On Saturday morning, Spencer allegedly told the officers he heard noises Friday evening outside his home and went out to check on them, Capas said.

Spencer reportedly said he did fire several rounds from a lever-action .357 caliber rifle, Capas added. The empty shell cases found on Spencer's property allegedly match the weapon Spencer was said to have used.

Is Spencer a JDL thug?

That web page where he brags about his JDL membership has disappeared from the Google cache.

Whatever happened it certainly seems odd. It sounds weird enough to resemble the actions of either a fool or a provocateur . It will be interesting to see what sort of a spin is put on this by the powers that be, we might get a better idea of what's up.

Faust,

There actually used to be a page on the VCT/American Patrol site where Spencer boasted about his JDL membership. IIRC, it was a copy of a letter to the SPLC or some other liberal group to demonstrate that he wasn't "anti-Semitic."

Of course, since Irv Rubin, such connections could be a politcal liability, and it seems to have conveniently disappeared.

And quoting Aztlan.net as evidence to a skeptical neocon (hell, they'd probably give him kudos for the JDL thing), isn't gonna be that convincing.

Lesson learned: save everything you see on the Web, for tomorrow it may vanish

Centinel,

I am not sue what to make of Spencer. I have liked him for the most in the past, but he always did drift from hard Right to PC rather oddly. Sgt. Skull has him listed as a "provocateur."

My guess is he "tied one on," got sloppy and fired off his rifle in a residential neighborhood. Stoopid in-extremis. This will give American Patrol a black-eye, whether or not Spencer is an agent provocateur.

Dumb move.

Hell, mr. Every red-blooded American organization is anti-Semitic these days, according to the rabid Israel-firsters in various seats of power. That doesn't mean I would trust any of them as far as I could see them. Any organization is only as trustworthy and solid as the character and integrity of the one individual where the buck stops.

Americans have never been a really anti-Semitic people but that is beginning to change. More and more Americans (of all races actually) are getting sick and tired of the Jews and their organized fanaticism. It has come to the point where organized Jewry is a danger to American national security, not to mention American liberties. Paul Findley's book They Dare Speak Out is a good expose of this. They have already succeeded in corrupting our foreign policy to suit their own special interests, just as George Washington warned about, and now they seek to destroy freedom of speech in this country as they have in Europe already with "hate crime" legislation. Senior Republicans actually want to deny federal funds to public universities whose faculty criticizes Israel. The Democratic Party is absolutely addicted at this point to Jewish money and nonwhite voters. What is even more intolerable is how they seek to portray anyone who recognizes their wanton aggression as immoral. They want white people to feel ashamed to defend themselves.
