This is too much. First the morons want to rename Kruger Park because of Paul Kruger's "connections" to apartheid, now they are renaming Pretoria to "Tshwane". I can't wait to hear what fanciful tale they'll concont regarding Andreis Pretorius's role as the mastermind of all the evils of apartheid sarcasm. But no matter; this is nothing less than a determined effort by the ANC and its ilk to instigate a full-scale genocide of the borevolk, by destroying their culture and destroying them physically as a people.

Pretoria - Pretoria is Pretoria! With this slogan, the residents of the Jacaranda City want to protest against the decision by the Tshwane metro council's mayoral committee to change the city's name to Tshwane.

Tertius Zitzke, chairperson of the Pretoria chamber of commerce, has called on residents to stick the slogan on the rear left window of their vehicles.

"Stick the slogan on the left window, to show that it's not a right-wing political campaign, but based on the interest of the business sector," said Zitzke.

He was inundated with calls from the business sector on Wednesday because business people say the name change will result in huge costs for the rate payers, government departments and the Pretoria business sector.

Wim du Toit, chief executive officer of Tshwane's business and agriculture enterprise, Tshwabac, agrees. The company, which organises the annual international Pretoria show decided not to change the name of the show.

"The man in Siberia knows where Pretoria is, but he's never heard of Tshwane."

Du Toit is surprised at the mayoral committee's decision, because the metro council says in a marketing document that the identity of an area is crucial.

The document, which was discussed at a meeting of the metro council and business people on Wednesday evening, refers to the existing identity of cities such as Johannesburg and Durban, compared to the new identity of Ekurhuleni on the East Rand.

Franco Jordaan, chairperson of the Tshwane tourism association, says efforts over the past two years to market the name Tshwane haven't produced results.

Philip de Wet, Tshwane's DA representative, says he and his colleagues have been inundated with residents protesting about the proposed namechange. The matter wasn't discussed in the place name committee and the mayoral committee didn't consult anyone. Residents are apparently threatening to withhold rate and service payments.

The Freedom Front says in a statement it just shows again that the ANC doesn't know what nation building is all about.

Renier du Toit, Tshwane's acting municipal manager, told business people on Wednesday evening that the council didn't have an official viewpoint about the namechange at the moment.
