**Growing minority prison populations challenge already cash-strapped states About 10 percent of all black men between 25 and 29 were incarcerated last year, compared with 1.2 percent of white men and 2.4 percent of Hispanic men. Overall, the 586,700 black men in prison outnumbered both the 436,800 white males and 235,000 Hispanic males. Black males account for about 45 percent of all inmates serving a sentence longer than a year.

Well I guess that means that the Fedgov will come after us WN "haters" and "terrorists" to fill the discrepencies in the prison populace, huh? You know, diversity is our strength, even in prison. Can't have all the blacks getting all this bad press, it hurts their feelings you know. :crybaby:

I was visiting a man who was in prison in the NY state system, at Elmira, which is their processing center, then Gowanda, which is a medium/maximum facility, then Butler, which is a minimum facility.
At all three facilities I observed the negro population averaged 65% - this is based on the count in the visiting room. I kept notes.
The man I was visiting said the percentage was quite a bit higher in the Gowanda facility, but that "most of them are from the City, and they don't get visitors."
At none of these facilities was the White population much more than 20% on any given visiting day.
An interesting side note. All the visiting rooms look like cafeterias. They have vending machines. I would keep a stack of change on the table so that my friend, the prisoner, could get what he liked from these machines. On two separate occasions at Gowanda a negro child simply walked up and casually helped himself to the money. Both males, one about eight and the other about eleven. In one case the visiting mother flipped out and chewed the kid a new one; in the other case, the mother simply looked on with a bored expression.
