**Many Indians Exempt From State Taxes, Fees California tribes' sovereignty frustrates beleaguered state and local officials seeking to fill yawning budget gaps.

SACRAMENTO ââ¬â Deron Marquez, 33, drives a Mercedes coupe valued at more than $96,000 and oversees a high-profit business that generates tens of millions of dollars a year.
State and local authorities collect no tax on the business' profits or property, and for one of the two years he has owned his Mercedes-Benz, Marquez paid no vehicle license fee, state records show. By law, Marquez, like many Native Americans, didn't have to do so.
As chairman of the San Manuel Band of Mission Indians, he is one of roughly 26,000 Native Americans enrolled in the 53 California tribes that own casinos. Although some have grown wealthy on gambling profits, they need not pay many taxes shouldered by other Californians.
While other motorists brace for their license fees to triple, many Indians can shrug. If lawmakers raise the sales tax, many Native Americans will be unaffected. And it would be no big deal if lawmakers raised the state income tax on the richest Californians, as Gov. Gray Davis suggested early this year.

I didn't know that the Native American didn't pay taxes until I read this article. I hate to admit this, but I was so ignorant not knowing this. Hopefully, there are other 'ignorant' people out that would admit this. I thought the European-Americans were also 'native Americans'? I know...it's different. I sure wish the government can get hold of Kennewick Man and SHOW that the European was the first to explore what is the US.

In Canada, aboriginals not only do not have to pay taxes, but all of their higher (university) education is totally paid for (they get it for free), they are eligible for "special loans" (no interest), are offered housing for pennies on the dollar (I met an aboriginal who was paying $100 for a two-bedroom apartment in the heart of Vancouver - non-aboriginals normally pay upwards of $800+ for the same lodgings), are specially targeted for jobs and funding by the provincial and federal governments, and much much more.
Increasingly, the only people without rights are whites: the only 'right' whites seem to have left, is to pay the way for every other race in the world.

When is all of this free **** going to end? I believe that the native indigenous need to have all of this payoff. The entire European-American nations are all involved in payola it seems. I'm sick of this. Something has to be done to make this information known to EVERYONE and then quit making those who do know it stop feeling that those people deserve it. I hear that crap from my own family!
