NEW YORK--(BUSINESS WIRE)--July 25, 2003--David Brooks has been appointed Op-Ed columnist for The New York Times. The announcement was made by Arthur Sulzberger, Jr., publisher of The Times, and Gail Collins, editor of the editorial page. "One of our goals is always to have a team of Op-Ed columnists with a wide range of views and areas of interest," said Ms. Collins. "But it's even more important that they be writers with compelling voices. On both counts, I think David will be a great addition to the page." Mr. Brooks's column will appear twice a week beginning in early September. Mr. Brooks, 41, is a frequent contributor to The New York Times. He has also been a senior editor at The Weekly Standard, a contributing editor at Newsweek and The Atlantic Monthly, and a regular commentator on The NewsHour with Jim Lehrer, National Public Radio and CNN's Late Edition. He is the author of "Bobos In Paradise: The New Upper Class and How They Got There" published by Simon & Schuster, which will also publish his recently completed book on suburban America scheduled for next spring. In addition to The New York Times, his articles have appeared in The New Yorker, Forbes, The Washington Post, SmartMoney, The New Republic, Commentary and many other publications. He is the editor of the anthology "Backward and Upward: The New Conservative Writing" published by Vintage Books. Mr. Brooks was formerly an editorial page writer and editor at The Wall Street Journal. He graduated from the University of Chicago in 1983, and then worked as a police reporter for the City News Bureau, a wire service owned jointly by the Chicago Tribune and Sun Times.

Also, note that Brooks's book, Bobos in Paradise: The New Upper Class and How They Got There, is [basically] about how Jews came to completely dominate American life after the 1960s. No, of he course he doesn't MENTION his co-religionists by name, but the book details how the old, WASP elite were replaced by a mainly Jewish elite, who were often involved in the 1960s student movements and still fancy themselves as 'counter-cultural', 'radical' and 'hip' while, at the same time, using all their power to ensure that the NEW status-quo remains unchanged and their dominance goes unchallenged [of course, this part isn't mentioned]....Inner Party, indeed.
