OD should put the list of online members on the top, which makes the forum appear more busy and interactive, kind of like a party, which then convinces new members to stay after seeing all those online people. A forum that appears dead will not seem "important" to new visitors.

Seeing all those participating members on the top has kind of a positive psychological affect on me.

Ares

Online members listed on the top make it look like you are not alone on the forum but rather are with other members in real-time. Its more synergetic. That's one thing I used to like about Stormfront: when I was alone and bored, seeing all those members at the top listed in real-time made the forum more fun, lively, and interactive.

Of course, this suggestion would make it much easier for anyone with ill-intentions to surveil this website.

Why the top, instead of the bottom?? I don't get it.

Haha, you're insane. Instead of importing a bunch of east asians to eugenically improve the stock, how 'bout you just get a vasectomy instead.

Because web surfers quickly rush through hundreds of websites, looking for something that stands out on each website that will make them look at it in greater detail. If a web surfer comes across OD, the first thing they would see are lots of members on the top of the page, and this would make them think, "Hey, this forum might be worthwhile to scrutinize a little if so many members participate in it."

Edana - Sorry to see you've changed your avatar. I liked the other one. It went well with you.

You know how some women like to change their clothes a lot? I have that same kind of compulsion, but with my avatar as well.

I'll keep your comments in mind when I feel like changing again, and maybe just change it back to the old one.

Ares is right. But, I don't care if the names are listed or not. It does add some clutter.

**Weird Ares:  Because web surfers quickly rush through hundreds of websites, looking for something that stands out on each website that will make them look at it in greater detail. **

Exactly the reason it's at the bottom! We don't want web surfers who are racing around trying to find the next great thing -- we want people who stop, read, think, consider, weigh, and DISCUSS.

Think about it Ares, all too many of your messages seem to be a slap-dash posting of some quasi-controversial article and then you wait around for someone ELSE to discuss it. We don't really need to know that you can operate your copy and paste keys, we want to see if you can operate YOUR MIND!!! It seems you are looking for entertainment, and not mental stimulus -- you want OTHERS to discuss and argue while you try to stir things up. (Most) OD members want to have a reasoned discussion that requires them to think, research, and respond carefully to their challengers.

What are YOU adding to OD?!

But what about all of those who say "ugh, I have to keep scrolling through who's online and whose birthday it is and all that other stuff just to see what kind of forums are here"? ;)
