Wonder if rban was one of the Indians mentioned :P ? Seriously, that's why so many of us who have worked in IT make cracks about Indians showing up with supposedly great credentials only to be later treated to the import reading "How To Learn C++ in 21 Days" or some other beginner book ON THE JOB. But they are cheap.
Things are further compounded by the colleges. Not only do they receive more money if they have foreign students (more $$ for each unit, unless you're an illegal I guess) but America's public schools are continually dumbed down in an attempt to keep native born students in any technical area at a (decreasing) minimum. Hell, they want to make sure the number of Whites in any field is nil. Everyone knows the level of cheating among Asian students is astronomical, but since they aren't white ... not much is done. Maybe 60 Minutes can do a piece that shows us how all this cheating is A-OK.

I think the bottom line here is that IT has, for white Americans, become a sunset profession. In most large organizations whether vendor, provider, or enterprise, technical functions that require little if any inter-personal skills or innovative ability are now already, or are swiftly becoming, the province of Asians and predominantly Indians.
Pursuing a BSCS or even BSEE is probably now among the worst possible educational options for a young American, unless they intend to pursue a carrer in sales, training or other technical field that requires communications skills as well as knowledge of bits and bytes.
The message is: if Indians can do your job either here are over there, find something else to do that doesn't match their 'skill-set'..

Dan Dare, the problem is that most of the Indians don't have the skills that they claim. That's why you see desperate pieces like the one on 60 Minutes that claimed that Indians are all bright, well trained, etc. Don't just read what myself and others on the board who have been/are involved in IT, talk with anyone working in that field now. The companies are shooting themselves in the foot. Interesting fact is that most of the new ideas and innovations still come from the whites at these companies, and then they are forwarded to the mud slave computer braceros overseas. Sites like zazona actually bend over backwards trying to appear "non-racist". In the end, it's not the fault of the Indians or the Taiwanese, etc., they're just the useful idiots working for the real people running the show, and taking advantage of the stacked deck against White Americans. The site also posts letters from Indians with the usual braggadocio and outrageous claims, their wails of all Indians being born so talented, etc. Amusing as Hell, but it isn't needed, as the media will do all the lying for them and any other non-white. The interlopers from India are just another cudgel, along with mestizos, Sudanese, etc. being used against White America. The White elites don't want a White middle class, they want it eliminated, they have no feeling of kinship with Whites not of their "status." The jews as a group just plain hate ol' Whitey, as it seems most Indians, blacks, mestizos, etc. do. Why? Jealously. Look at their countries, then look at the worst of White countries. 'Nuff said.

Roy - all points well taken.
My point is that there are so many of the varmints and they come so much cheaper pro stueck that US companies can treat them as expendable cannon fodder. hey if this batch doesn't work out there's plenty more spewing out of the H1-B factories.
Software projects get parsed into so many minute globules than any one is probably well within the remit of your average code-wallah. So individually they don't need to know much or even be that bright. It's kind of like nano-technology.
I'm well aware of the politics behind all this and who is really to blame, but don't realistically think it's going to improve within my working lifespan. All I'm really saying is don't encourage any white kids to get into IT particularly SW engineering.

Government Discrimination Against U.S. Citizens

Do American jobhunters have to get their up-to-date employment news from The Economic Times of India? That faraway newspaper carries sensational items that somehow don't make news in the United States.
The Economic Times published a report that the Bush Administration, speaking through U.S. Trade Representative Robert Zoellick, has assured India that its workers who come to the United States on H-1B visas will receive Social Security benefits even though they don't comply with the rules American workers must meet.
The Economic Times of India reported that India's Commerce and Industry Minister Arun Jaitley said in Washington, D.C. that Zoellick "gave him the assurance," and that Jaitley also met with Commerce Secretary Bob Evans who presumably confirmed this assurance. Since the article was datelined out of Washington on June 14, it is all the more remarkable that we didn't hear about this on U.S. networks.
In order for you and me to receive Social Security benefits, we have to pay taxes into the system for 10 years or 40 quarters. Those who come here from India on H-1B visas are allowed to work here for three years and get one three-year extension, for a total of six years -- but that's not ten years!
"Totalization" is the bureaucratic buzz word to describe executive agreements to give foreigners employed in the United States Social Security benefits to which they are not entitled. A similar "totalization" plan is now cooking in our State Department to give Social Security benefits to Mexican aliens, even if they are in our country illegally.
Totalization makes sense only if you understand that the goal is to force U.S. taxpayers to subsidize the scandalous practice whereby multinational corporations hire cheap-labor foreign replacements for American workers. This makes even better sense when you understand that the big contributors to politicians are corporations and their executives, not U.S. workers who are laid off.
A second India-based news source, Rediff.com, reported another comment by Minister Jaitley at that same Washington event. He said that Zoellick promised India (and Jaitley said he quoted Zoellick's exact words) that "the federal government opposes it and is trying to resist it."
"It" refers to the attempt by New Jersey and some other states to ban the outsourcing of taxpayer-paid services to foreign countries. New Jersey taxpayers created an uproar earlier this year when they learned that their state officials had outsourced the handling of calls from the state's welfare recipients to operators working in Bombay, India.
At least 12 state governments and nine federal agencies have outsourced computer work to be performed by foreigners whose wages are paid by American taxpayers. Jaitley ducked the question when asked if India is lobbying against state legislative bans on taxpayer-funded outsourcing.
Employees of EDS, a company based in Plano, TX, first found out about their company's outsourcing plan from an Indian newspaper. The next day, EDS announced the elimination of 2,700 jobs.
Another bit of employment news that we learned about only from the Economic Times of India was datelined March 21 from New Delhi. It reports that the U.S. Bureau of Citizenship and Immigration Services (formerly the INS) has taken several steps to promote the entry of more foreign nurses.
In order to increase the number of foreigners who can come in and take U.S. jobs, the Commission on Graduates of Foreign Nursing Schools has just approved several new organizations to administer the English language test to foreigners. These moves are designed to make it easier and quicker for foreigners to enter and take U.S. jobs.
Corporations are induced to import foreign workers not only because the cost of their wages and benefits is substantially less, but because many federal laws (open-borders policies plus the promiscuous granting of H-1B and L-1 visas) encourage discrimination against American workers. Outsourcing jobs to a site in a foreign country enables the corporations to avoid the numerous regulations with which U.S. businesses must comply.
The following long email (one of many I've received) dramatizes the impact on individuals:
"I'm a victim of the outsourcing of high tech jobs. I was
a Systems Analyst/Programmer. Our
bought-and-paid-for Congressmen increased the
number of H-1B and L-1 visa workers to cover the
'shortage.'
"Now, I'm reading that the same thing is happening to
the medical industry. This is deja vu.
"The irony is that I retrained to be a Medical Office
Billing Specialist. I thought that if I trained for a small
town type of job, I would be safe. Now I find that outsourcing is going to be eliminating that opportunity for me also.
"I can't tell you how discouraged, disheartened and
depressed I am at what is happening to my country. I
can't sit idly by while the economy of my country is
being dismantled piece by piece. Can you help me?"
President Bush and Members of Congress, are you listening?

My brother was a IT computer programmer with a large well-known American company for 7 years after graduating from college. Got laid off 8 months ago. Headhunter told him, "Have you any other skills? I have not a lead in hell to offer you and don't see any on the horizon either." Luckily he knows how to sheet rock or he'd be in deep doodoo, but he doesn't have benefits and stability. I told him his old job is probably being done now by an Indian.... a 7-11, not Casino type. He's now politically aware. (He was already racially aware; you learn that quickly in NY) And so goes the dismantling of America. We're losing it and it's going to collapse.
Another story. My company uses a rigging company to move some of our heavy machinery when we buy a new machine, etc,....same guys for years. These guys move anything, continentally or internationally. Their boss and my boss were chatting. My boss told us all that these riggers have moved 83 American companies, machinery and all.....TO CHINA, in the last 5 years!! Most well known one was Pratt & Whitney, but along with all 83 of those companies went every job done by an American. Think about that, right from someone in the know....83 American companies in the last 5 years, to China, jobs here gone. I almost felt like kicking the riggers for doing all those jobs. I guess if it wasn't them, it'd been someone else.
I liken the United States to a department store or supermarket. The managers of these stores are secretly letting employees take merchandise out the back door, selling items at reduced price to any takers, with a kickback going to the managers, of course, to turn the blind eye. Pretty soon though, all the merchandise is gone and the books are cooked but still in the red!!! What happened says the Supreme Owner of the company??? Well, close up the store, board it up, close the curtains, it's done; the store is bankrupt and will be closed permanently. Sell all the hardware that's left and then bring the wrecking ball in; turn it into a parking lot.

Mad Russian, and when there's no more merchandise....well, darn, we can sell the property that this 'ol store is standing on, huh? The employees heard that the chief owners and upper managers had an offer for the store property from some people in Mexico, China, Russia, and Israel all fighting to buy the land for themselves. Those interested parties are stumbling over themselves to give great gifts to the owners of the property!! But the new owners.....they certainly plan on wrecking the old buildings and then constructing newer but uglier concrete block 2 story factory buildings where the workers (us) would take huge pay cuts, be forced to work 14 hour days and required to sleep on the premises, because they plan on eliminating automobiles!! Also, no more alcohol, cigarettes, or sex. Conformity is Mandatory and Good, they also heard said in the meeting. The employess also overheard a meeting where the new plants and factories would only employ a certain number of people and people would be killing each other to get those jobs! Litterally killing each other?!?! Those who don't get the jobs will die of starvation because the only way you can get food is working for these new guys in their dormitory/factory. You know, food shortages, and the supermarkets were looted. I mean how can someone afford $10 for a quart of milk and $20 for a loaf of White bread?!!??! If you get sick, well, uh, maybe you'll just hopefully, well, there's no guns anymore with the new owners, so, there's some poison you can take, because there is no medical.........uh...... whoa! Sorry folks, darn, I know that it's a dark, gloom and doom scenario!! Let me get outta here, take care!
