Abolishing America (contd.): The Logic Of The Attack On Southern Symbols

by Sam Francis

Having pulled the Confederate flag down from nearly every pole on which it fluttered, the anti-white lobby still isn't quite finished. The most recent symbol of the Old South to be reconstructed is the University of Mississippi's traditional mascot, a Confederate soldier called "Colonel Reb."

The university is still run by whites, but the abolition of the mascot shows clearly how guilt, self-hate, and outright fear drive whites themselves into eradicating their own heritage.

"Col. Reb," as the figure was known or "Colonel Rebel" as an Associated Press story recently called it, was adopted as the school mascot in 1936, when the student newspaper launched a contest to come up with a new nickname for the football team. The team had been called the "Flood," and among the entries for the new name were "Rebels," "Confederates," "Stonewalls," and "Raiders."

The "Rebels" won with a landslide of 18 votes, and Col. Reb first appeared the following year in the university's yearbook.

The figure therefore has absolutely nothing to do with "racism," "white supremacy" or the rest of the bugaboos in the anti-white zoo.

I'm willing to bet that when the students voted for the Confederate names for the team, they really were not thinking about how the name and a mascot based on it would help them perpetuate white racial hegemony over blacks.

The reason the students suggested and voted for such names was that they suggest something drawn out of their state's history that is sort of like a football team—soldiers who fought hard and bravely for their cause.

But of course in time the name and the mascot, like the flag itself, were invested with broader and deeper meanings.

They would never have acquired such meanings had the anti-white lobby had the sense to leave them alone. But logically, once you've launched a crusade to rip down the Confederate flag, you have to continue ripping down every vestige of the Confederacy, even if it's only sports symbols. There are further logical implications as well, which we shall explore anon.

But at Ole Miss, the anti-white lobby generally knows better than to preach hatred of whites and their heritage and symbols openly, or at least it has the brains to know that such arguments won't sway very many.

Hence, the rationale for changing the team name and abolishing Col. Reb reached for other, more plausible reasons.

The rest of the country will laugh at us. The NAACP might boycott the state. Talented black athletes won't enroll. We need to put the past behind us.

In the course of persuading themselves and trying to persuade everyone else in the state of the cogency of these arguments, the leaders of the anti-white campaign managed to banish displaying the Confederate flag at football games, the playing and singing of "Dixie" as the unofficial anthem of the team, and calling the annual spring festival on campus "Dixie Week."

Athletic Director Pete Boone [pboone@olemiss.edu] has learned his lines well. "The Confederacy is behind us," he spouted to the AP. [Dixie fading at Ole Miss, By Allen G. Breed, AP, July 1, 2003]

He's not the only one spouting. The AP reports that black Associate Dean Don Cole [dcole@olemiss.edu] "can still see the hate in the eyes of a female student as she drove by, waving a Confederate flag out the window."

That was in 1969. Apparently Dean Cole has had nothing better to think about since then, and now he has his chance to get back at all those pretty white co-eds who "hated" him.

"I wanted to support the team," he whined to the press, "but I couldn't, quote, be a Rebel."

Well that brings us to the other implications of getting rid of the Confederate flag.

Implication One is that when you admit racial and cultural aliens into institutions created by and for people of a different race and culture, you're going to have problems.

The newcomers don't feel comfortable, as Mr. Cole did not, and if they gain power, which eventually they will, they will do all they can to abolish and eradicate those symbols that make them feel like the outsiders they are.

And Implication Two is that it's not just fairly trivial symbols like Col. Reb, the flags at the football game, the name of the team, and the songs the spectators can't sing.

It's everything—everything whites (not just Southerners) ever created and built, from their form of government, to their religion, to their art and entertainment, to what they teach in universities.

Non-whites of all races and cultures are increasingly aware that they just don't fit in the institutions built by whites, and therefore they demand that these institutions bend to their will.

And the reason they succeed, of course, is that the white leadership of the institutions created by and for whites lacks the brains and the guts to resist.

Texas Dissident,

The War on the South and the CSA Flag is a War on America. The goal is the total destruction European America.

Frank Conner,in his book"The South Under Siege 1830-2000",details the "logic" behind the unrelenting attacks on Southern symbols. The attackers are Secular Humanists,Liberals and Jews.He explains why they do this, among other things. He proposes ways to fight this. It's more than just a Southern problem. http://collards.phantacom.net/b001a.htm

Mr. Wilson, do you know if Conner devotes any attention to the Jews' role? I get the impression from reading this intro that it's another LS version, carefully avoiding serious discussion of race and, heaven forbid, Jews.

I see that former LSer Lewis Goldberg is an official reviewer. Goldberg left the League shortly after 911 when too few members supported USrael's war on the Moslem states.

You might look at Dennis Wheeler's Home Page. It has some good information on the problems with many of these so-called "Southern Nationalists." It has articles on The League of the South, "The South Was Right" by Ronald and Donald Kennedy, Libertarians, Thomas Fleming, Dr. Bob Jones III and other subjects.

Thanks Faust. I'm familiar with Wheeler and recommend his site often. Very interesting stuff on the "Southern movement".

I do wish he'd either update his site or answer my emails. Hopefully he's still with us.... somewhere.

Ruffin: Frank Conner does mention Jews, without resorting to euphemisms. He starts this from chapter 20 onwards. He also mentions the role that black activists have played as well as big business. The reviewers couldn't have possibly missed any of it.Parts of this book are almost like a Southern-style "Culture of Critique".

I just purchased When in the Course of Human Events by Charles Adams and The Real Lincoln: A New Look at Abraham Lincoln, His Agenda, and an Unnecessary War by Thomas J. Dilorenzo. I haven't started reading them yet but do you recommend Frank Conner's book as well?? Thank you.

The War on the South and the CSA Flag is a War on America. The goal is the total destruction European America.

So very true. The South that I grew up in is slowly losing it's rich heritage and traditions. The wave of liberalism is enjoying success in the citys, but rural Southrons turn their backs on that crap.

....but rural Southrons turn their backs on that crap.

They turn their backs on many of the fangs of culture distortion, yes, but they are so wedded to "patriotism" that they cannot ever seriously oppose their government. And this is not of recent vintage.

CrankyFrank: The Conner book is well worth purchasing if you're interested in learning the non-p.c.version of Southern and American history. The author writes from his personal experience of having been born(1933) and raised in the South during the 2nd time of forced change. This book has not yet received the uncensored reviews that it deserves.

WNs shouldn't embrace any Southern symbols at all. They might turn off potential converts to the cause of White Nationalism. At least, that's what I hear.

Mr. Wilson, I thank you for recommending Mr. Conner's book. I've been reading it non-stop for the past couple of weeks. The writing style and delivery makes it an informative and interesting read. I rank it up there as one of the most important books I've read since my awakening!

Regards!

I would disagree. Thinking people of all persuations understand that changing the ChiCom flag from red to green would not make them Irish, nor would it fundamentally change the nature of the regime.

Like wise the assault on American symbols including those of southern heritage is not some knee jerk reaction by opressed minorities grieving over perceived wrongs which may or may not exist. It is a coordinated assault by secular liberals bent on the exsanguination of everything that defines what Euro-Americans have built and accomplished in this country.

It is not the symbol which really offends, but the idea and reality embodied by that symbol.

Potential WN's tired of the relentless assault on our values and culture in post-America America surely know the difference and likewise would not be more or less inclined to think or act, based upon any symbol. And surely those who are so cowed by political correctness that they fear the "offensive nature" of a symbol, were never candidates to begin with.

I assume you took Kurt seriously. I figured he must be joking. Or have turned into the "eraserhead" character of his avatar.

Just for background, WN's in general although they like Southron symbols, occasionally tend to think of todays southern nationalists as semi-sellouts who talk about the politically correct virtues of the "rainbow confederacy", where black confederates fought alongside jewish confederates and returned home to live happily ever after - along all the time. To say southern symbols are not inclusive enough -

Dr. Robert C. Khayat Chancellor, University of Mississippi

*A native of Moss Point, Mississippi, Dr. Khayat attended the University of Mississippi where he was an outstanding football and baseball player, leading the nation in scoring by a kicker in 1958 and 1959 and helping the Rebels to consecutive Southeastern Conference baseball titles. He was also an academic All-America selection in football and an All-SEC selection in baseball. He played in the 1960 College All-Star Game. After graduation, Khayat played for the Washington Redskins from 1960-64 and was named to the Pro Bowl in 1961.

Following his professional career, Khayat returned to Ole Miss to attend law school, graduating in 1966. Three years later, he joined the law school faculty. After years in private law practice and teaching, Khayat took a leave of absence during the 1980-81 academic year to earn a Masters of Laws at Yale University. Khayat was promoted to associate law dean before his selection to serve as vice chancellor for University Affairs in 1984, a post he held until 1989. His outstanding fundraising ability and leadership was recognized in 1989 when he was appointed, following a national search, as the first president of the NCAA Foundation. This Foundation funds NCAA projects, including scholarships for student athletes who have exhausted their eligibility and still desire to earn undergraduate degrees, and fellowships for students pursuing careers in sports administration, athletics research, and drug education programs.

After three years with the NCAA, Khayat returned to Mississippi as a law professor. Possessing a great popularity among his pupils, the Law Student Body chose him as its 1993-94 Outstanding Law Professor of the Year and the school's Mississippi Law Journal staff established a scholarship in his name in 1995. On July 1, 1995 Khayat was named the University's 15th Chancellor, overseeing the Oxford campus, University Medical Center in Jackson and degree-granting centers in Southaven and Tupelo. *

Those '58 and '59 Rebels teams were two of Johnny Vaught's greatest. it would appear that the '59 Rebels were denied the mythical national championship only because of Yankee media bias. The "59 team allowed a total of 21 points in 11 games despite facing defending naional champ LSU twice. Billy Caannon's "Halloween Jaunt" gave LSU a 7-3 win in the first game, but Ole Miss won 21-0 in the Sugar Bowl.

He should understand what's at stake here.
