Hopefully this is the beginning of the end of all these special 'rights' for indians. They can pay taxes just like the rest of us.

"Charlestown-AP) -- The chief sachem of the Narragansett Indians was arrested at a newly-opened tax-free smoke shop today."
"The Narragansett Smoke Shop had a steady stream of customers this morning.
The Narragansett Indians opened their tax-free smoke shop on Saturday on tribal land in Charlestown. The tribe is selling the cigarettes without sales tax or the cigarette tax, in an effort to make the tribe economically self-sufficient.
Governor Carcieri says the shop violates federal and state laws."

Indians do have special rights, more rights than anyone else in America. Apparently, they were only busted because the smoke shop wasn't on their land or in federal trust. The tribe is still in the effort of getting new land for "housing", they just jumped the gun a little because they couldn't wait to get rich selling deadly addiction to whites.
Indians have killed millions of Americans by introducing the white man to tobacco (applying liberal logic to where it's not suppose to be applied). And, they get to do it tax-free, sometimes with government money to build, while the government kills the competition through heavy taxes and bogus settlements.
