I was bored today so I watched Hal Lindsey's "Intelligence Briefing" show on TBN. Basically his news analysis was no different than that on FOX news about the Iraq War, only he does it under the guise of the Christian faith. Then he talked about the peace plan and how unfair Israel is being treated and blah blah blah. Israel can't do no wrong in his mind.
What got me most was his talk about how hatred for the Jews is sponsered by Satan. Therefore to be anti-Semitic is to be anti-God and anti-Christ. Jews are God's Chosen People, therefore we must give them our full support against this global rise in anti-semitism. Funny he doesn't mention that maybe the rise in anti-semitism could be because of the mistreatment of Palestinians by Israel for one. No, he blames it on Satan and that to hate the Jews is to love Satan.

I am beginning to believe that if there is a GOD (I'm agnostic right now--a little in conflict), then there is a devil (as taught in Sunday school).
I remember reading or hearing that GOD said the devil will be in places or be people you least will expect it to be.
Perhaps, the Jews are really the devil in disguise. Afterall, the majority of problems in the world surrounds the Jews and their issues. The WHOLE WORLD is caught up with the Jews. If that is the case, the devil must be laughing at us all. That is, except for me, of course--for the Jew is the devil is disguise.

Well I used to be an atheist, so I hope you'll find your way back to god. :hyp:

That makes more sense that what Lindsey was saying. He was saying that the Jews are God's chosen people and because of that Satan hates them. Therefore Satan does so much to cause people to hate the Jews because the Jews are God's chosen people(the Jews). We must fight anti-semitism because its directed at God's chosen people, and it is sponsered by Satan cause he hates God's chosen people. We Gentiles must fight to protect the Jews, because they're God's chosen people and from them Jesus Christ was born.
I'm not an expert on the question of Jesus being a Jew or not, so I'll leave it at that. But I do know Jesus criticised many policies of the Jewish religious leadership and was executed for it. And I believe on Franco's website he mentions that theres a group of Palestinian christians that can trace their ancestry back to the 12 Apostles.
But what Lindsey was saying was typical Zionist BS. He calls for blank checks to Israel and the Jews. I've heard Catholic commentators who support a Palestinian state and don't believe in blank checks for Israel. Evangelicals are idiots posing as :hyp: .

Well these views seem to have become part and parcel of the dispensationalist cult, discussed well in a number of articles/threads posted in this section. Theologically dispensationalism is a very weird and actually rather ambiguous doctrine. It basically says God wants the Jews set up the a powerful kingdom in Israel, so he can annihilate them in the battle of Armagedden and bring in the thousand year millineum.
Jews are naturally rather ambiguous about this emotionally, but since it goresalong with their political ideas for Zionist supremacy they go along with it, even if they don't believe squat about the second coming.
When the mainstream political evangelicals dumb it down politically for media consumption that's where the philosemitism comes in. But at that point I do question their theological sincerity.

While Satan does hate the Jews, that is not to prove that anyone labeled an 'anti-semite' is a lover of Satan.
I suppose Satan might love Ice House beer, as I do, but would that make me a Satan lover? Obviously not, but Hal is being typically narrow. Oh well.
Anti-semites come in all flavors it seems. Some want to oppose what they consider Jewish power that they think is excessive for their number. Others think that all Jews should be killed. Others think that Jews are cursed by God and avoid being too near them as they dont want to be caught in the fallout when God revisits His scorn upon them.
I personally think anti-semitism is a distraction from the real issues exemplified in the Peasants Revolt in England. Englands nobility thought the plague surviving peasants had grown to wealthy and they conceived myriad taxes, duties and tarrifs to drin some of that cash from them. As they put down the rebellion one leader of the repression was heard to say to the PEasant leaders,
'Rustics you were and rustics you shall remain.'
The Second World War put a lot of cash in the hands of working class people in this country. The militarization of that generation led them to successfully organize in the labor movement.
I suspect that much of the problems we face today stem from efforts on the part of our elite to return us to being rustics.
The Jews are just playing Joseph to our Egyptians. The later Pharoas will forget them in our day as well.

I understand how many outside of the catholic (universal) Church scoff at folks like myself who constantly make efforts to separate what I consider true Christianity from those who are so prominent and distort doctrinal minutia, and that pains me to no end because it prevents them from ever taking the leap of faith and discovering for themselves the Truth and personal completeness of the Faith.
I am just a layman and have no authority whatsoever, but I denounce those who strain out a gnat while swallowing a camel: Paul Crouch and TBN, Hal Lindsey, John Hagee, Kenneth Copeland, T.D. Jakes, Robert Tilton, Jimmy Swaggert, Jerry Falwell, Richard Land, Jack van Impe, Cal Thomas, Tim LaHaye, Oral Roberts, Jr., Janet Parshall, Jessie Jackson, word of faith preachers and legalistic fundamentalists of every stripe. Each either distorts, waters or weighs down the Gospel with man-made rules that divide the Church as well as fatally damage the perception of same by unbelievers.

You might want to keep in mind that the founder/High Priest of The Church of Satan, Anton LeVay is actually Howard Stanton Levy. He changed his name, somewhat, in an attempt to hide his "jewishness". Just another wacky "Ukranian".

Well I'm of the Ukrainian Byzantine rite of the Catholic Church, but I'm an admirer and supporter of the Russian Orthodox Church. So I guess my earlier comment about Evangelicals was an unintentional result of my somewhat bias towards a more Catholic/Orthodox form of Christianity. I have respect for conservative Prostentant churches, but I just prefer the more established(best I could term it) churches.

I agree. However, as much I hate these people and feel disgusted at their perversions of Christian teachings, often times I do feel the need to have some kind of compassion and forgiveness for them. Thats a part of my character I guess, that even when I hate somebody or something I still often times feel the need to see some kind of inner good in them.

I have seen some on this Forum attack Protestantism for this sick nonsense. But as I pointed out before; this stuff only dates for the 1800's and some of these false doctrines only dates from the 1960's. Hal Lindsey and his "Late Great Planet Earth" being some of the worst of this trash! The "Rapture" nonsense is the most sick and evil false doctrine even to see the light of day in Christendom.
