It's a good idea, something I do myself whenever I get the chance and have been trying to do other people to do for a long time.

Does anyone know WHY Townhall shut down their forum? I used to post there several years back and one day it disappeared for some sort of maintenance. Then it reappeared and disappeared again.

You did? Lawdalmighty. I was over there too. Can't even remember my avatar right off the bat.
Officially it was do to software problems. Unofficially people with mainstream organizations have no committment to forums. They are hard to run and generate problems for the organization so they have a limited lifespan.
That's why all the forums around now seem to be run by lone-wolf individuals, and with the good ones these individuals are basically anonymous or semi-anonymous, like with Tex, John Deere, or Neal's friends at LP. That way organizations don't have to answer "you guys are nuts, look at what you let on your forum".
No problem here. We just keep plenty of nutcrackers ;)

Town Hall Forum was one of the best. I was a big contributor.
NewsMax was another.
Both dissapeared when they got too close to the Jewish Problem, with truths.

So NewsMax now is officialy gone? I never realized that. Not sure why. but I never could get into that forum.
After townhall I remember I went to one forum called Republicanweb or something. That shut down. Then somewhere else that shut down too. I tried to get on FR, but for a time FR wasn't accepting new subscribers (the first big publicity rush).
Then I went to FR, and watched that gradually shut down as a free speech forum.
Then the same thing happened at Sam Francis.
Took me a while before I realized what was happening. Any right wing free speech gradually attracts two types - the far-right types looking for a open, stable venue, (there aren't that many in cyberspace) and the ADL/PC monitors who spendtheir time following these guys around. Once they both zero in on a site, most forum adminstrators aren't prepared to handle it and just shut down.
Hats off to Tex for taking on the challenge and holding the line here.

Fox News had a massive forum with Delphi, but after anti-Jewish posts started to appear, they shut it down.

Yes, yes! 98% of the time, as soon as people start posting TRUTHFUL stuff about Jews, poof!, the message board shuts down. Or they wimp out and become FR.
Yes, HATS OFF to Tex for not being cowed by the PC crowd. Tex knows the score, deep down, and ditto Fred William I and the rest at OD. They know The Taproot Of Our Problems [ya knows: Mormons...] :) and :D

I think Nuclear_Thoughts also got on everyone's nerves with his black bashing, as well. There was a time where the exchange between him and a couple others went on and on. Then, no more Townhall.
