Hello Campers!

Dan here, back from patrolling distant galaxies and blasting those nasty Treens.

Interesting to note that even after an extended sabbatical, everyone's favourite Bosco-boy is still snuffling around in the dustbins.

But I think I have the perfect diversion, a career opportunity beckons for our dusky friend in darkest Manchester M12 aka Longsight, as companion and linguistic soulmate for the recently anointed Sahib Ali, whose achievements are outlined in the attached clip.

...TAXPAYERS are footing the bill for a translator because an asylum seeker elected as a councillor struggles to speak English.

Liaqat Ali scored a stunning victory for the Liberal Democrats in Manchester's Longsight ward last month in a backlash against the war on Iraq.

Now it has emerged he speaks only broken English and needed an interpreter to sit with him at his first full council meeting...

Go for it rban! It's got to be better than being a phone-jockey in one of those Bangalore call centres, right?

The Brits seem to be in a contest with us Americans to see who can get rid of their guts and brains fastest.

Wow, the most utterly absurd, outrageous piece of political news I have heard in a long time! If an elected politician needs an interpreter for his broken English, I wonder how the technical skills of the "brilliant Hindu programmers" in Bangalore, for whose benefit thousands of U.S. IT jobs are being cut, measure up to U.S. or European standards.

P.S. - churban: Congratulations on your new job. May it go better than your career as a cab driver, woefully cut short when it turned out that you didn't know how to give correct change for cabfare.

Read the last name. He is ALI, a MUSLIM. I am a superior Hindu who despises all Muslims. So this article has nothing to do with me.

Give me a break rban. He's probably one of the rioters in Braxton I think you were so enamored, defended so loudly, and said loved you so much when you were at SFF.

Actually, there is a grass roots reaction against this sort of thing happening in Britain right now which has recently manifested itself in the best ever election results for the "far right" in Brittish history. America is truly in a league of its own. Things keep getting worse and no one cares.

And the riots in quetion happened in Burnley, Bradford and Oldham. Your getting confused with the Brixton riots which happend in the early 80's and were primarily the work of blacks.
