Substitute Schlitz 40's and Cheetos, and NASA would find downtown Atlanta a veritable researcher's paradise...

I remebered something from the late 70s-early 80s California nut scene like this , and did a search in Google groups:

"The original Breatharian stuff took place in the early '80s... The lead guy, who's name I can't recall right now (I will look it up, though -- I did a couple journalistic pieces on him back then) espoused weaning oneself from nutritious food by eating food low in nutrition. His program included lots of Haagen Daz rum raisin ice cream. After his repeated claims to have given up food altogether, he was busted by an irate ex-girlfriend, coming out of a 7-11 with a large sack of junk food." :D

And now NASA is being taken in? Sheesh.

"The lead guy, who's name I can't recall right now "

I remember this from about 1977 or so. I think the guy's name was Wily, and I do remember him getting caught with a bag of junk food. A more modern breathairian is some woman named something like Jasmuheem. I'm not interested enough to look it up. She was caught ordering a special meal on an airplane. Her explanation was that she planed to order the meal, not eat it.

I however, have subsisted entirely without food or liquids since about 11:00 AM this morning, more than 120 minutes.
