**US Marines Are "Stupid" "Idiots" British Colonel Claims Says Yanks Violating Geneva Convention

7/1/2003 12:20:21 PM Discuss this story in the forum LSN Staff

Umm Qasr, Iraq -- The British colonel in charge of Umm Qasr, Colonel Steve Cox, attacks US Marines as "stupid" "idiots" on a documentary to be aired this evening on the BBC.

The documentary, entitled "Fighting The War", has a segment where Cox reviews three prisoners taken by Marines. One is an Iraqi who approached the Marines because a US bomb killed his daughter, and he wanted assistance finding her body. He orders the men freed and suggests that their commander violated the Geneve Convention, before launching into a tirade where the denounces the US troops for their killing of British soldiers in friendly fire incidents, and their killing of civilians. According to British press reports, he states that the Marines are "stupid" "idiots" and highlights their poor training and low combat skill.

Anti-American sentiment is high among British troops, who see the US army in general as poorly commanded and poorly trained, and too read to kill the innocent.

A guerilla war is threatening to drive the US out of Iraq after dozens of attacks have left close to seventy US soldiers dead and more injured after the US President George Bush declared the war won.

News it ain't. Brits been calling Americans stupid idiots since before George Washington. We've been calling them lots of names too.

Some things never change. :P

Marines are nothing more than polished up ego-maniacs. In fact the phrase "Go tell the Marines" was invented by sailors during WW2 who got tired of hearing marines bragging about their brave exploits. So whenever somebody tried to bragg about anything, the sailors replied "Go tell that to the Marines, they believe any :dung: ."

My grandfather told me about when he was in the Army, the Marines would always try to start bar fights with the soldiers and sailors. Often times, the Marines would get their asses kicked!

My Army friend tells me about many of the pranks that he and his unit does against Marines, many of them are pretty funny  .

Basically the Marine Corps get all the glory, but its really the soldiers and sailors that do the real dirty work. Lebanon 1982-84 shows how competent Marines are in real sticky situations. Basically, the Marines are not as tough as both they and the media claim they are.

I have to give it to the Brit on this one.

 I have had the unpleasent experience to have worked with a few former marines and with some former army infantry guys. I can say for certain, in large part the former MARINES were;
   LAZY
LACKING ANY KIND OF SELF MOTIVATION
   IN LARGE PART , ALCHOHOLIC
   EXTREMELY NAIVE
ALWAYS LOOKING TO GET OUT OF WORKING
   PATHALOGICAL LIARS
   EMOTIONALLY IMATTURE
   EMOTIONALLY UNSTABLE

I can assure you they all had been HONORABLY DISCHARGED. To give you some further examples of their ineptitude; they regularly would attempt to use their military experience as an excuse to get out of working. Regurly they would feign physical wounds, or emotional distress due to their so called ' servive ' to the country. One had been injured in Vietnam when he came out of bar, drunk, and tripped and broke his ankle. Another never left Stateside, his girl frien would visit him everyday. Basically he was on a glorified welfare, which he claimed this was his service to his country and now the country( the rest of us) owed him cause he put it on the line, as he said. I guess we should be thankfull to him for allowing us to pay for his housing, healthcare, salary, uniforms, meals, veterans benefits, etc...Another would claim that he suferred from AGENT ORANGE. Later we found out he NEVER was in Vietman, he spent his wartime carreer in OKINAWA. Evidently he ate his way to an injury, as a supply seargent. Another thing they all had in common, they all watched those stupid Hollywood war movies, and they would admire the protagonists, like children idolizing Superman. Also they all wear the paraphenelia, such as belt buckles, patches, phony metals, POW/MIA shirts. If someone in a uniform came on TV and said something they would beleive it no matter how silly or stupid, even if this guy just had on a security gaurd uniform. In contrast the few EX REGULAR ARMY guys, were hard working, respectfull, never boisterous, self- starters, respnsible, rarely brought up their military experience. As a matter of fact one ex Army guy was a decorated Vietnam vet, who walked point in the bush for over 13 months straight, never talked about war, or never watched the stupid movies form Hollywood, and if he did watch one, he simply critisized it as the farce that it was. So you see, I have to agree with this Brit, according to my experienvces, I will never hire an ex- Marine for anything, not even to walk my dog. :thd:

Isn't that another Churchill quote? "Tell it to the Marines, the sailors won't believe it."

Then he turned around and insulted the sailors. Asked what the traditions of the Royal Navy were, Churchill said: "Rum, sodomy and the lash."

Hell of a guy. I wonder what he said about the army?
