This article or similar versions of it have been available for years. Liberal Catholics don't care because they hate Pius, the last "pre-Vatican II" (i.e., orthodox) Pope. Jews hate Pius because he epitomized everything that they reject, or because they want to make cheap bucks.

I'm Protestant, but Pius from everything I've read strikes me as a honest, decent and brave man, and one of the last really good Popes. ADLers will attack him as an anti-semite, the VNNers of course wil read this article and think the opposite. Enemies like these are no better endorsement of a man.

Pius XII defends the Jews
So, just when did The Church fight the Jews, and their treachery? 1300s? 1400s? Never? Help me out here, people.
"Who but a prophet or a martyr could have done much more? The Talmud teaches us that "whosoever preserves one life, it is accounted to him by scripture, as if he had preserved the whole world."
WRONG!
From Michael A. Hoffman's site: "In the authentic, original Talmud text it states that 'whoever preserves a single soul of Israel, it is as if he had preserved an entire world' (emphasis supplied). The authentic Talmud text sanctions only the saving of Jewish lives."
And why is a "Catholic Evangelist" (whatever that is) quoting the most anti-Christian book of the Jews?

I would commend to you the site www.holywar.org for type of information you want. You'll get lots of quotes from Popes and saints that make VNN seem like milquetoast.
I am not endorsing this particular writer's rhetorical techniques, but the facts he cites have been known for years, especially since the book by Lapide mentioned in the footnotes. Pius XII's critics have been mostly Catholic apostates or Jewish junk scholars and hack journalists.
Were Pius alive today our civilization would be much healthier in every respect. The Church would certainly not be laid low, as it is at the moment.

The whole point of that article seems to be: "See? the Pope tried to save the Jews! The Catholic Church isn't anti-Semitic. We wuv the Jews, oh yes we do!"
Jews still accuse the Church of being anti-Semitic anyway, so why bother trying to appease them? Besides, as a WN (who was raised a Catholic), I have little respect for a Jew-loving Pope.
It's just like when countries always have to apologize for "the Holocaust," or say things like "Oh no, we had no part in that!" :thd:
I say, it's time to tell the Jews to go to hell; no one owes them any apologies.

That's great. But where are the Catholics like that now?

They're in the Society of St. Pius X, and a few other enclaves. See SSPX.ORG.
As Sobran and others have pointed out, were it not for the Church, Jews would probably have been wiped out 1,500 years before Hitler. They were vastly outnumbered wherever they were, and generally despised. Only Christian charity and forbearance spared them.
Second, one need not apologize to Jews to object to being slandered as a phony and a hypocrite. That's what the Jews and Catholics who brand Pius a crypto-Nazi want to do. In fact, they are phonies, posing as orthodox Catholics and reputable journalists and scholars, when they are in fact frauds.
It's also fair to point out that, to their credit, the Jews of the time were themselves the ones who publicly testified to the Church's heroic efforts. It's the current generation of vermin who deserve condemnation (at least on this count), not their grandparents.

I have posted this before, but like so many things this should be brought up every six months or so. From my book: War, Money and American Memory: Myths of Virtue, Valor and Patriotism

American Jews and World War II**
As ever the need for a helpful goy to plead for Jews was filled when the esteemed James Michael Curley of Massachusetts rose on the floor of the House and gave a stirring speech on behalf of Jews on March 30, 1944. Mr. Curley true to his Irish heritage first acknowledged the courageous action of Pope Pius XII for opening the gates of the Eternal City to Jews fleeing the Germans and followed with a discourse on divinity and the place of "His Holiness as a worthy disciple of the Divine Master". After quoting the poet-philosopher Omar Khayyam on the permanence of the written word, Mr. Curley presumed to "bespeak in the name of home, and in the name of spiritual idealism, justice rather than tolerance".
Mr. Curley recounted the service of Jews in the Civil War using generally accepted numbers of some 8,000 out of 150,000. However, for World War I Mr. Curley credited a total of 2800 Jews dying which was somewhat lower than the number given by Senator Barbour. Then Mr. Curley cited a survey of 1939 where the number of doctors of Jewish faith was listed at 18,000 with the greatest number in the New York area. More specifically, for the Bronx and Brooklyn the percentage of Jewish doctors in military service was given at 32 percent which was significantly higher than the 27.5 percent on active duty for goyim doctors.
The War Review of the National Jewish Welfare Board compiled records as of November 1, 1943 which were then turned over to Congressman Curley, and one must assume Mr. Curley was coached on the presentation of the figures. These figures which were collated through army sources were to give lie to rumors that men of Jewish faith had congregated in non-combatant branches. One must note that the National Jewish Welfare Board was given access to all records, not just those screened to indicate the person could be possibly thought to be a Jew.
What followed was 17 pages inserted in the Congressional Record by last names in alphabetical order of Jews followed by a brief description of their performance for a medal for valor or circumstances about their becoming a casualty. After completion of this Herculean task Mr. Dickstein of New York rose and on behalf of all Jews in America and thanked Mr. Curley for his splendid statement and able presentation. Then Congressman John McCormack, later to be Speaker of the House, rose and lauded Mr. Curley as a "leader in progressive thought and action. Above all, he has exemplified and inspired others to follow the noblest traditions for which our country stands, first and foremost being tolerance on the part of all for the other; he is a man who has always vigorously condemned intolerance and bigotry in any form". The reader may be helped in his assessment of Curley's character by knowing that he had already served one term in jail for political indiscretions and would serve another term in jail after leaving Congress when in his seventies. The Kennedy family of Massachusetts has remembered Curley for linking Toodles, the hatcheck girl, with Honey Fitz, the father of Rose and grandfather of John Fitzgerald Kennedy, in one of the great political smears of Massachusetts history. If Curley's biographer is to be believed, during the war Congressman Curley and his coterie would sit in the bar of the Mayflower Hotel in Washington and amuse themselves by having the bellboys page an Admiral Finkelstein, a Colonel Shapiro or any other Jewish name that suited their fancy. Perhaps, this bit of deviltry was what recommended Curley for serving to remind American people of minority participation.**
Now Ted Kennedy represents Massachusetts!!!

The case is instructive for all Christians, but especially for us Catholics. The Pope alone spoke out in their defense, a fact affirmed many, many times by Israeli leaders over the years. But now they smell money in a "holocaust" lawsuit and a chance to inflict gratuitous pain and suffering on another group.
Our Elder Brothers in Faith are, as a group, incapable of loyalty and gratitude to any other group. They repay the favours of their friends with lawsuits and ridicule, and ultimately when they get the power with prison and death.
Another good example of their back-stabbing is their official denial or down-playing of the Amenian genocide - this to curry favour with their allies of the hour Turkey.
I see in them not a scintilla solidarity or sense of basic duties of reciprocity and fair play to any other nation.
I'm constantly amazed that my fellow Catholics can't see who leads the assault on the Church.

Describing Jews as our "Elder Brothers in Faith" is a John Paul II expression, if I'm not mistaken. Another of his countless inanities.
God, give us an Italian pope again.

Yes, I think you're right.
It even made it into the Catechism, if memory serves.
It's true enough in a VERY BROAD historical sense that it falls just short of heresy, IMHO.
The problem is that Ashkenazi Judaism has been, with the acceptance of the Kabbalah as part of their canon several hundred years ago, essentially a pagan religion.
This same Pope kissed the Koran, said nice things about African VooDoo. His attempts to make nice with our natural competitors won't work.
I agree - let's get an Italian conservative in their.

I don't understand what this has to do with America. Do non-Liberal Catholics put America first, or the Pope?
If they put America first, who the Pope is should be irrelevant unless, like this one did with the fool Reagan, and he helps betray this nation. The next Pope will be Opus Dei's Cipriani, from Peru, if Navarro Valls has anything to do with it. If you are talking "the Church" in international terms, you can forget about the religious side of politics.
