I didn't know whether to post this in Current Events, Culture or Misc. Since Father's Day is tomorrow, I decided to post it here in current events.

My Dad and Mom just left our home here in Idaho on Thursday to drive back to Texas after visiting with myself and my family for over two weeks.

Many folks on this board (as a result of posts on other boards) have been aware of my Father through his several heart surgeries and an aortic anurism he experienced here in Idaho while visiting two years ago. They also know him from some of his own articles I have posted on other boards.

He's a WW II combat vet of the Pacific who willingly fought for our Republic at a very early age, he is a gifted engineer who worked with DOD contracts for over 40 years designing weapon systems to help keep us free. He is a dedicated and loving husband and father who has shown by example what thrift, hard work, love, discipline and faith can accomplish.

My principle quote or statement concerning my father has always been this...

If I can be half the man my Dad is, and raise my sons to be twice the man I am...then I will have succeeded as a father in this life.

To my Dad today I say..."Thanks Dad, God bless you and Mom always for your gifts of love, sacrifice, commitment and faith to me and the rest of your family. You are heroes and patriots in my eyes, and always will be!"

May we all find occassion and reason to revere our fathers who helped to give us life (which is by definition how they came to be fathers) and who strive to teach us the values of life including faith, hard work, dedication and commitment to a good cause, integrity, virtue, moral values and how all of these form an unshakable foundation for liberty. I know I can do this for my father and both of my grandfathers (God rest their souls). I pray that my own children will be able to attribute the same to me.

Good post.

The role of the father is very often overlooked in today's families; a decent, hard-working, loving but authorative father is a key ingredient in a successful family.

In the NWO, Father's Day is looked at with a particular amount of disdain, unlike Mother's Day. Example: there is an article somewhere (have no link) in which ESPN lists the best and worst sports fathers of all time. Get the idea??

Amen, such fathers are a key ingredient to the underlying support structure and fabric of our entire society...and to our liberty as far as I am concerned.

I thank God I was blessed with one and wish to God there were many, many more...and hope to God I can be remembered as one myself. In the end, that will be up to me.

Thanks for your cordial and reasoned response.

I make no apologies for my tribute to my father, or for my defense of that tribute.

It is a shame that some of the folks on this board fell as they do, but it is their right to feel as they please. it is a greater shame, at least as I was raised, that they must try and put down, insult, and attack something as straight forward as such a tribute in an effort to either broadcast or defend their own ideologies.

But such is life and one of the things my father raised me with was a pretty thick skin...something about sticks and stones and words and such and understanding the differences.

Best regards.

JH - O.K., not 'admitted'. My mistake. Maybe I'm alone but I've never posted in a forum before exploring it a good bit. I look forward to reading more of your opinions on the state of our "republic"; your father's too.
