B'nai Brith Canada wants dot.com to drop Al-Jazeera

Representatives of JumpTV have agreed to meet with B'nai Brith Canada officials who have accused the Montreal-based Internet company of "broadcasting hate material."
The charge was levelled after JumpTV began offering Al-Jazeera, the Qatar- based Arabic-language news channel, to subscribers through its Web site earlier this month.
JumpTV spokesperson Blake Markle told The CJN that he would not comment on the hate allegation until the meeting, which has not been scheduled.
"We're holding out [on commenting] till we sit down with these people."
JumpTV, which Markle said has been in business for a couple of years, describes itself on its Web site as providing live online delivery of TV networks from broadcasters around the world. These networks are available to subscribers worldwide with an Internet browser and Media Player.
Markle would not say how many subscribers the company has or how much demand there has been for Al-Jazeera, which JumpTV is offering for $9.95 (US) a month.
The company says its online streaming operations are conducted from facilities in Canada and the United States.
Earlier this month, B'nai Brith issued a press release warning JumpTV's chief executive officer Farrel Miller that it will hold the company responsible for transmitting hate material, even if it originates elsewhere.
"B'nai Brith Canada has had years of experience in dealing with hate on the Internet, working together with government and community agencies, Internet service providers and legal/legislative experts," said national president Rochelle Wilner.
"There are ways of ensuring coverage that meets the needs of ethnic communities without contravening Canadian anti-hate laws."
Executive vice-president Frank Dimant added: "All carriers, whether Internet, cable or satellite, have an obligation to ensure that they are not used to disseminate hate material. If they do not take this responsibility seriously, B'nai Brith Canada will explore all available legal remedies to counter the dissemination of hate propaganda in this country."
B'nai Brith's communications director Joseph Ben-Ami told The CJN that "we are prepared to use any whatever legal recourse we have" to stop JumpTV from airing Al-Jazeera. But as there is no regulation of what goes over the Internet, pursuing those who broadcast hate is difficult, he conceded.
He said B'nai Brith might consider going to a human rights commission with a complaint because precedents exist for that route.

The vicious pack of scumbags has resorted to illegal cyber-vandalism to achieve their ends before. Believe me, they'll do it without a second thought. Why? Well, they are combatting "anti-Semitism" (by Semites, ironically). This alone puts them above any legal or ethnic reprehension.
