Anti-Semitism, right here at home By Lily Galili

Ha'aretz, Israel May 23 2003

Not long ago the first Israeli neo-Nazi Internet site was launched. To put it more precisely, it is actually an Israeli site in the Russian language. Who says there are no original productions here?

To the list of oddities by which the world is now defined, a few local paradoxes can be added. It appears that the number of Russian Jews who will emigrate to Germany this year will be larger than the number who come to Israel; the law under which Jews from the former Soviet Union can immigrate to Germany is close to the restricted definition of "Jewish under Jewish law." The Israeli Law of Return, however, is in fact based on the Nuremberg Laws, in which the Germans expanded the definition of who is Jewish in accordance with their own needs.

Anti-Semitism has been swelling recently in Europe, and also in the Jewish state. Not long ago, the first Israeli neo-Nazi Internet site was launched. More precisely, it is an Israeli site in the Russian language. Who says there are no original productions here?

The site is well organized. It has text and pictures showing the activists of the organization, "The White Israeli Union," some of them in Israel Defense Forces uniforms on the background of army camps and saluting with a raised arm. The expanded text is divided into sub-sections. There is one on "Who we are," where the managers of the site introduce themselves as "Ilya from Haifa and Andrei from Arad," and it is related there that the members of the organization are "people who have pride in themselves and are sick of living among the dirty bastards." There is a section on "Who our enemies are," where all the "enemies" are extensively documented: the Jews, the Arabs, the immigrants from all Moslem republics of the former Soviet Union, the Moroccans, the foreign workers - in short, the "black-asses." In the material about the Arabs there is even a practical suggestion to enlist in the IDF in a combat unit, in order to get weapons and begin to shoot at them in every possible circumstance.

In the guest forum on the site, other opinions can also be found - for example, that the hatred of Jews ......................

There seems to be a very strong strain of self-hate among the Jews. But then again, self-hate isn't limited to them. Many of the violent extremists who style themselves "white supremacists" or "skinheads" are actually mongrels of partially non-white derivation, attempting to compensate for their own feelings of infeirority by their violent behavor towards those with more non-white blood. Some are Jews.

Prodigal Son, many of these "Jews" who emigrate to Israel or Germany are often nothing else than Russians who just pass as jews as the Israeli and German immigration law is pretty tough. There are 800000 immigrants from the Soviet Union in Israel and maybe 33% of them are nonjewish Russians who are denied Israeli citizenship as the Rabbis do not consider them truebloods. These Russian "Jews" eat pork and live in their own cities. They even have their own political party. They contribute heavily to the Israeli GDP and are overrepresented in the IDF. Maybe they dislike the orthodox parasites who live on taxpayers money.

Evidence? As far as I am concerned the only ethnic Russians in Israel are the sex slaves that the mafiosi import there, and a few gastarbeiter computer programmers

** There are 800000 immigrants from the Soviet Union in Israel and maybe 33% of them are nonjewish Russians who are denied Israeli citizenship as the Rabbis do not consider them truebloods. **

Again, evidence? Many of the Jews who come to israel only have a Jewish grandmother or something to that effect, but as far as I, or any other nationalistic Russian is concerned, they are Jews.

Secular American Jews eat pork. I am not talking about relgion when I say "Jewish", I am talking about ethnic affliation.

Do you have any evidence for any of this?

One would be crazy to want to live in Israel while not being a Jew. I may be wrong, but I don't think the rabbis do re-evaluations in Israel among the newly-arrived immigrants, who've immigrated as Jews, who can become a citizen and who can't.

I suspect it's not only determined by the percentage of non-Jew blood, but what environment they lived in back in Russia. There were very few Jews in Russia as fanatical as the Brooklyn ones, and I doubt more than just few percent don't dream about moving to the US or Germany out of that mess.

Well, maybe many of these "Russians" are 1/4 or 1/8 jewish, but who is a jew and who is not a jew is defined by the Rabbinate. Many Russian jews who came to Israel are condemned of having nonjewish spouses. What I tried to say was that there is resistence towards immigration from Russia in Israel and that there are problems for gaining Israeli citizenship for many of these immigrants. Maybe they are not Russians to you, but Israeli society perceives them as such.

1) "Russians" in Israel are systematicly persecuted: beaten, assaulted, raped, tortured, disgraced. Russian-sreaking people who somehow avoided beatings are psychologically terrified; they live in the permanent fear of violence.

2) The state propaganda in Israel is turned against "Russians" and kindles hatred, agression, malicious anger against them. Hebrew TV, newspapers, radio, the goverment's ministers are expressing an uncontrolled anti -"Russian" propaganda.

3) A considerable number of Russian-speaking children were disgraced, assaulted, suffered from mockeries, batteries, humiliations, were severly beaten and even killed at schools. Thousands of them were forced to stop attending school. Some of the children have committed suicides. Thousands of "Russians" teenagers were imprisoned under trifling excuses.

As more non-Jews come to Israel, Israelis re-examine Russian aliyah

By Jessica Steinberg

JERUSALEM, Sept. 10 (JTA) - A renewed call to change the Law of Return - which guarantees citizenship to any Jew in Israel with at least one Jewish grandparent - is turning the spotlight on immigration from the former Soviet Union.

Nearly 1 million immigrants have moved to Israel from the former Soviet Union since the floodgates opened in the late 1980s - and as many as a quarter of them are not Jews according to religious law, experts say.

Though immigration has tailed off sharply in recent years, the percentage of non-Jews among the immigrants has risen as high as 70 percent, according to Israel's chief rabbis.

The Interior Ministry puts the figure slightly lower - at 58 percent for the first half of 2002 - but still far above what it was in previous years.

The controversy over Russian immigration is not academic. With Israel defining itself as the Jewish state - and with the rigorously Orthodox rabbinate in charge of issues such as marriage, divorce and burial - an influx of large numbers of non-Jews raises difficult societal questions.

The Pork battle

Pork feeds Jewish conflict By Megan Goldin BEIT SHEMESH, ISRAEL

Bringing home the bacon has taken on a new meaning in Beit Shemesh, an Israeli town that has become the latest battleground in a decades-old religious conflict between ultra-Orthodox and secular Jews.

This time the religious infighting is over pig meat and whether six Beit Shemesh delicatessen stores owned by Russian immigrants can sell pork and other non-kosher products considered unclean by Jewish law and abhorrent to the devout.

"They are making the whole neighborhood filthy with their pig," shrieked a religious woman at a hardware store on Rabin Street, where most of the non-kosher delicatessen stores are located in a mixed religious-secular part of Beit Shemesh.

AntiYuppie,

Yes!

"I strongly suspect that most Westerners would be ashamed of themselves if they treated Jews or any other minority with the same bigotry and hatred that Jews treat the hated goyim.."

And I will point out that the old South African Government treated non-Europeans in South Africa far better the government of Isreal treats non-Jews.
