DNA match leads to warrant in serial killings Police: Suspect considered armed and dangerous

Monday, May 26, 2003 Posted: 5:11 PM EDT (2111 GMT)

BATON ROUGE, Louisiana (CNN) -- Police issued an arrest warrant Monday for Derrick Todd Lee after DNA lab tests linked him to the killings of five women in Louisiana.

At a news conference Monday afternoon, police said they identified Lee as a suspect in the deaths of Gina Wilson Green, Charlotte Murray Pace, Pam Kinamore, Trineisha Dene Colomb and Carrie Lynn Yoder, all of whom were killed since September 2001.

Based on a tip, law enforcement officials called the 34-year-old Lee in for questioning two weeks ago, and he voluntarily submitted to DNA testing before being released, a member of the serial killer task force told CNN on Monday.

Officials took several samples that matched DNA evidence taken from the five killings under investigation by the task force, the source said.

According to the arrest warrant, lab tests first linked Lee to Yoder, 26, a graduate student at Louisiana State University who had been missing for a week when her body was found in March near the Whiskey Bay Bridge off Interstate 10 outside Baton Rouge, the same place another victim had been found last summer. An autopsy indicated that Yoder was strangled after being beaten and raped.

The warrant states that DNA samples from Yoder's body matched "male DNA" evidence from the four other killings.

A task force of local police, state police and federal officials also has been investigating to see if any other slain women can be connected to the suspected serial killings.

Police said Lee is considered armed and dangerous, and that anyone with information about him should contact local law enforcement officials or call the hot line for the task force working the case, at (866) 389-3310.

Police described Lee as a black male, 6 feet 1 inches tall, with short hair, a light-to-medium complexion and a muscular build, police said. Lee's birthday is November 5, 1968, police said.

Police investigating the suspected serial killings released a sketch late Friday of a man responsible for three home invasions they think might be connected to the case. The sketch matches the description of Lee given Monday.

Lee's most recent address was in St. Francisville, 40 miles north of Baton Rouge, police said.

The killings began in Baton Rouge in September 2001, when Green, 41, was found strangled near the Louisiana State University campus.

In May 2002, Pace, 22, was found stabbed to death in her home, also near the LSU campus, and in July, Kinamore, 44, was abducted and found with her throat slit. Kinamore's body was found 30 miles west of Baton Rouge.

The body of Colomb, 23, was found in a wooded area November 24, about 20 miles from where her abandoned car was discovered.

One can also argue that blacks aren't smart enough to get away with it long enough to earn the title of "serial" killer. So low IQ explains both the tendency to violent crimes and lower, but only when compared to their contribution to violent crime stats, share of serial killers.

For months [years?] the FBI “profilers” insisted the killer was White. Then, last week, he was described as “a disarmingly attractive light-skinned black.” By what bizarre standard is this Negro serial killer either disarmingly attractive or light-skinned?

Lies. Deliberate misinformation. And more lies. Cui bono?

I agree with AY that it takes higher than average intelligence to conceive the often elaborate, perverted sexual fantasies that act as impetus to serial killers. Sex for most geechies, like for most other varieties of subhumanity, is about quantity more than anything else. They're like jungle beasts in this respect. Dey jes' wants ta hit dat booty 'n' move on to da nex' one, dawg.

First Muhammad & his pillow-biting li'l buddy Malvo, and now Lee. These "the killer is almost certainly a white male, age 25-35" big-shot profilers might consider another line of "work".

I remember reading in several books that the average IQ for serial killers was close to 115, even though that group has had their fair share of morons. If this tidbit is true, then there are very few blacks that qualify. I'd bet most North American Ground Ape serial killers are in fact spree killers who have been lucky that their impulsiveness hasn't resulted in a quick apprehension.

With most stranger murderers getting away, meaning blacks and browns walking up and killing you for your wallet or purse, that is what we should be more concerned with. True serial killers like Ted Bundy and co. are a rare breed.

Serial killers are usually black or homosexual.

It wasn't that long ago that most White woman wouldn't have opened a door for Black man, much less let him in the house. Yet four professional White women let this subliterate negro get the drop on them. I think it's fair to say that political correctness in this society was part of the reason these murders happened.

The sad & scary fact is that so long as you murder your victim completely at random - and use a modicum of precaution regarding fingerprints, witnesses, etc - you're already 3/4 of the way home, if not scot free.

We've been inundated with the Hollywood-movie serial killer - usually depicted as urbane, witty and educated - and so, voila! He's a genius!

It's hard for cops and Feds to publicly admit they're practically helpless once acquaintances of the victim have been positively ruled out. Far easier to take the weight off by depicting your serial killer as a cunning superintellect.

Anybody here think Muhammad & Malvo are geniuses?

Just spent a few days in New Orleans for work. The Ubangi quotient there is quite high; perhaps the white female population there has become desensitized. What a filthy, depressing place.

Incidentally, the swarthy genius was just arrested in Atlanta hanging around a tire store. Maybe he thought no one would recognize him standing next to the Michelin Man.

Valley Forge (I've actually been there.):  It wasn't that long ago that most White woman wouldn't have opened a door for Black man, much less let him in the house. And that is one reason I keep a .357 in the bookcase next to the door. If I do not recognize the "gentleman caller," I draw that gun, and hold it out of sight behind the door, when I open it. I am ALWAYS aware of the home invasion game that seems to be more and more common.

My sisters are HORRIFIED and think I'm a paranoid freak! (And maybe I am... but why chance it?!)

But, of course, that takes both a cynical and (if I may say) a strong personality, a willingness to shoot to kill, and a sense of almost ANGER to greet visitors armed... Most women seem unable to manage all those...

Why do you even open the door? If you don't know the person, never open the door.

I only open the door for my father in law and the guy that delivers packages. It's not that there's any danger around here. I just don't feel like spending my time saying "No, I'm not interested in any magazines," "No, I don't need any candy bars," "No thanks. Don't want newspapers..."

No stranger has ever came to my door that wasn't just trying to sell useless crap.
