****Fields Of Shame: Sex Slavery Exposed ** A Team 4 Reports Investigation

POSTED: 6:00 p.m. PDT May 21, 2003 UPDATED: 6:35 p.m. PDT May 21, 2003

LOS ANGELES -- Every year, as many as 2 million women and children are smuggled out of their home countries and sold into slavery -- at least 100,000 end up right here in the United States. Many come to Southern California.

No one ever expects to find slavery and prostitution in their own back yard. But, that's exactly what authorities say is happening -- and that's apparently what NBC4's Ana Garcia found in the most unlikely of places -- here in Southern California.

Immigration officials say the women, and sometimes girls, are smuggled in through San Diego and then allegedly sold for sex in plain view.

Hidden in the rolling hills of sweet strawberry fields in northern San Diego County is a secret. There, darting across a field of weeds, NBC4 found a group of what looked like students coming home from school.

"I counted about 15 girls," said Deputy Rick Castro, of the San Diego County Sheriff's Department.

But the young women we saw didn't have school books in their backpacks.

"There's no reason for them to be there. It's just an empty field," said Castro

And the men they were about to meet aren't their high school sweethearts.

Team 4 Reports accompanied Castro and senior Border Patrol agent Andy Godinez to the strawberry fields of Vista.

The authorities believe the young women may have been smuggled into the United States from Mexico by sex traffickers who prostitute the women to large groups of migrant workers.

But this isn't simple prostitution, Castro believes a lot of the teen girls are being held against their will. Authorities say the operation NBC4 went on was about gathering intelligence for arrests at a later date.

"We don't know if they have look-outs. Who's dropping off the girls? Where (are they) being dropped off?" explained Castro.

The Team 4Reports investigators divided up into two teams. Team 1 goes with Godinez, who watched a parking lot from behind some lemon trees.

"The traffickers are very manipulative. They'll lie to them and promise them good jobs and when they get here they find themselves working as prostitutes paying off the traffickers," said Godinez.

NBC4's Ana Garcia hiked up a hillside for almost a mile in Gopher Canyon with Castro. They combed through brush and weeds that were knee-high to a ridge where they could watch the women, or girls, enter without being seen.

Out of nowhere, Garcia and Castro saw females crossing the fields in groups. Then a man, believed by authorities to be one of the pimps, ran by. He catches up with the females and leads them to the oak trees.

Garcia said they saw at least nine women -- some who looked no older than teenagers -- cross these fields and run into the bushes.

Meanwhile, at the other location, men were starting to gather at the parking lot. Castro described the wait as being "kinda like a fast-food line of men standing around talking, waiting for their turn."

A few minutes later, the women reappeared -- now dressed in mini-skirts and high-heels.

At Garcia and Castor's location, the duo spotted what may have been a lookout on the hillside above where the women were getting ready. The man there was on a cell phone and appeared to be calling everyone to let them know "it's a go."

Back at the other location, men were seen leaving the parking lot. Within minutes, they had arrived at the alleged lookout point. Then, what appeared to be an exchange of money with the lookout took place. The out-door brothel appeared to be open for business.

Next a young woman, dressed in a mini-skirt, was seen carrying a blanket and leading a man to the spot. And in plain view, Garcia and Castro witnessed several sex acts.

Immigration officials said the young women are not acting out of free will -- in fact, some call it modern day slavery. It's for that reason that Castro said the observation was more important than moving in at the scene of the crime. **

Pretty nasty stuff. And in America, no less. But hey; Shrub keeps telling us about America's gift of freedom, right?? How much do you wanna bet if this operation were orchestrated by the Chosenite "Russian Mafia", NBC would've ignored it.

Jeffersonian, this goes on all the time in S.CA in the Asian neighborhoods also. Every few months, a story will leak out followed by 'undercover' video, showing girls - illegals - from China, Taiwan, Singapore being held like hostages, working as prostitutes in 'massage' parlors or fortified homes set up like brothels. On other occasions, they are used as unpaid household help, slaves. All the time. Enriching America with diversity.

** Enriching America with diversity. **

Yep, And isn't it bizzare that the libs who absolutely scream about the wonderful benefits of cultural diversity, not to mention the womens lib movement are never anywhere to be found when these stories break. Instead of making a huge issue out of the way these poor (illegal) immigrants are being abused, the stories just drop right off the radar never to be mentioned again. Why cause it's Mexicans or Asians screwing over their own.

Contrast that when some evil construction worker or business man even looks sideways at a minority woman or even just protests the failure of the immigration policy....why YOU STINKING, XENOPHOBE, NATIONALISTIC, RACIST, HATE MONGER.

I'ts so hypocritical it's stranger than fiction. Traditional American culture which would never condone such a thing is suddenly moot when it's an immigrant. This would not even be tolerated in the black community.
