I find it so ridiculous that the cable networks are showing minute-by-minute Annika Sorenstam updates. As if one should care?? What is even more ridiculous is that this "event" is a compromise; the failure of Martha Burk's protest at the Masters last month couldn't go away without a catch.

Everybody is saying this is just a one-time "novelty". Really?? What's the old line, "Once you let one in..."

Why isn't that grandstanding bitch Burk there? Or is she? I caught some of this circus. Didn't see her anywhere. Yeah, who gives a damn? This, American Idol, bread and circuses. The public is doing the fiddling while Rome burns.

Perhaps this opens the door for PGA men like Phil Michelson to compete with the girls. Could be interesting.

Good one Ed. I remember a few guys saying this on talk radio, and getting shut down right away. Although I'll give Dan Patrick of ESPN some credit, this was brought up on his radio show, and he took it and ran with it, very funny calls from the audience. A few people know what's going on.

One of the bizarre things about this (TV news-wise) is that none of them have mentioned the usual line about what this will do for women in golf. I don't think it matters to them since there's an LPGA. Instead of the sex card, it's now what Annika will do for the sell of golf clubs. Like the sale of golf clubs will rise because some distaff golfer is participating in a PGA tournament?? I smell a fish here :naughty: .

I also noticed some of the news shows were reading emails from viewers. One of the writers named "Don" said that no one could bar Annika from playing in a PGA tournament because it doesn't have the word "Men's" in the title (unlike the LPGA which is specific). Still, they are missing the point. This was done to appease the protestors at the Masters last month who were the losers. Just like the blacks in the Miss America paegants who could have been in their Black Miss America paegants instead, it will now be okay for women golfers to participate in PGA opens when they have their own tours. Same ol--same ol'.
