The finalists were mostly non-white, obviously a stacked deck after a white girl won the first season. But, it came down to a white guy vs. a black guy.
Already hints of racism were in the air. CNN ran a feature about double standards noting that a white girl admitted to stripping but was allowed to stay in during the first season. But, a black girl who posed nude was kicked out. Somehow I don't believe that the show was being more generous with whites than blacks.
Iââ¬â¢m pretty sure if the white guy (Clay) won, the next season they would have made sure that no whites with any skill would make it to the finals. So, it's a relief that a black guy won. This way we can avoid all the whining about out society being so racist against blacks and the next season American Idol won't make it impossible for someone white to win.
Clay is the best singer between the two, no doubt about it. But, the showââ¬â¢s audience probably leaned toward the pop style which would put Clay at a bit of a disadvantage. Still, Iââ¬â¢m sure most whites voted without regard to race and thus split down the middle. But, Iââ¬â¢ll bet my first born that the black guy received 95% of the black vote (5% margin for voter error).
It would be a shame for a show that features nice singing to sabotage itself to make a non-white win. The primetime game show Who Wants to be a Millionaire was greatly harmed when they tried to get someone other than white men on the show. Their subtle form of racism was to randomize the selection and depend less on ability to answer questions to qualify for the show. The end result was mediocrity. The dummies couldn't answer the challenging questions. At least the show got to keep their millions after that.

It's true that now no one can claim "racism" against Blacks, but this outcome still sucks. Clay was so much more the better of the two--he had more vocal range, while Ruben's "fat Black guy voice" :afro: makes every song he sings sound exactly the same. At least Clay's talent will take him far and he's getting recording contracts despite the fact he doesn't have the official title.
What the American Idol outcome proves to me is the sheer power of media hype in this society. I noticed Regis and Kelly said they were Ruben voters, and I got the impression that most of the big Hollywood stars and such were Ruben voters--because supporting a Black guy is the "trendy" thing to do. I also noticed that a lot of White girls in the audience were all for Ruben--yet another thing I find unhealthy about the tastes that dominate our popular culture. I wasn't surprised to see Ruben win tonight since the media sung his praises all over the place, which is obviously unfair to Clay.
What I find encouraging, though, is that a lot of people did notice how biased the media was in favor of Ruben. I was especially pleased to hear Josh Gracin, the Marine contestant on the show who was voted off a couple weeks back, admit in an interview that Clay was better and that the media is biased in favor of Ruben.
Only 1300 or so votes separated the two. I voted for Clay.
They said Ruben won the state of Florida. If Clay had won that state, you'd have seen a bunch of Blacks who would have screamed that they meant to vote for Ruben but accidentally voted for Pat Buchanan, since they were confused by the phone system.... :lol:

Though I didn't see the show, I will say that I was right. I predicted that there would be a black winner. This was before this season of the show started.
Now, how does anyone know the voting was honest anyway? People have already told me that the judges said they thought the white guy should win - correct me if that isn't the case - but the fat black guy that's been all over the news grabs the prize.
All in all, who cares? If it's set up for some black to win, then it's more of the same brainwashing crap. If it wasn't set up and he undeservedly won, then further brainwashing isn't needed. It's already done its job by getting the desired results. :dung:

Totally oblivious to this one. I watched IDOL once, fleeing in horror after noticing every contestant - black, white, male, female - sings in that dreadful Whitney Houston-at-a-major-event style.
I would no more voluntarily listen to this "Wind Beneath My Wings"-type sludge than I would buy the records of a STAR SEARCH winner. We gripe a lot about the prefabricated creations of corporate media - I think, if you got your record deal based on winning a phone-in poll on a Fox-tv show, you are this principle made flesh.

I watched one episode of this a few weeks back, and it was abundantly clear that Clay had the best voice - and equally clear that the elephantine nigra would win. A White girl took the prize last time, besting some sort of mocha-hued creature, so there was no way a White kid was gonna be allowed to wear the tiara this time around. The jews are fixin' to hype Ruben the Walrus as The Next Barry/Luther, now that those two are "resting comfortably".

These little trollops ought to be imitating great White female singers like Joni Mitchell or Kate Bush instead.

A few people I know (white, all) actually thought Ruben had the more pleasant voice, but that the other dude was destined to win because he was cuter.
But I wouldn't know; American Idol sucks and I don't watch it. Y'all need to turn off the judeo-monocular; outside of politics, not everything is a game of race. :)

I never got caught up in the American Idol thing, even if I saw the last episode of the previous season. That was because my sister was over at the house and she watched it.
It figures there'd be all these pathetic, shallow accusations of "racism". It's no different than Millionaire. But I will say this about "reality" shows. I would say that a great portion of it is not contrived, and that's quite possibly the reason why race cards get thrown up. Because it's not staged from behind 100%.
On Good Morning America a few days ago, they showed satellite scenes of Ruben/Clay fan rallies. Ruben's rally, in Birgmingham (AL) was almost all-black, with a few scant white faces in the background. Clay's rally, in Raleigh (NC), was all-White.

The only real scandal involving IDOL is the one in which Fox-tv interoffice memos directed the producers of local news programs to make sure they plugged A-I every damned day by creating and packaging bogus 'news stories' around it.....just like they did with JOE MILLIONAIRE, MR PERSONALITY, and WHO WANTS TO WATCH ANIMALS ATTACKING THE BACHELORETTE?
Let's, finally, be serious. Jayson Blair being caught making up stories for the NYT is notable the way a pie-fight in high-society is notable: everybody loves to watch the air taken out of a stuffed shirt. But there's a real, clear-and-present-danger news scandal that never draws comment, and that's how Rupe the Stupe built his empire on yellow gutter journalism that not only forcibly contributes to the dumbing-down of Americans - but is being eagerly seized and adopted by every other media baron with a news bureau and an entertainment division. That nobody blinks an eye when the lead story from Iraq [stage-managed and copy-edited by the Pentagon] is followed by a plug for a reality show - in the guise of a human-interest story.....with a reporter assigned to it! - is a far more telling example of the systemic corruption in corporate media. At least the Times is doing a mea-culpa and taking a public drubbing. What's everybody else's excuse?

NB, your posts usually have me laughing my skinny ass off. They're to the point, and frighteningly correct. Il Ragno's comment on the 'Whitney Houston' voice and style is simllar to what other people have said to me. A lot of popular music has been nigrified. Yes, Ruben will probably be the new Barely White, I mean Barry White.

I agree--there are a lot of "Whitney Houston" clones out there, and in the words of my mother who is very wise, "that's not singing, that's yelling." My mother made a similar observation about rap, saying, "that's not singing, that's talking." So we have two forms of Black vocal music: yelling and talking. America is trapped by these two forms in some sort of pincer maneuver.

American Idol = The Gong Show, without the gong. The Blacks/minorities always won then too. I'd be willing to bet that the white guy is gay and perchance he won that would have been readily announced shortly thereafter.

The news channels actually said this morning that it might have been fixed. Because first they announced a 1300 vote win, then a 13000 vote win, then the final numbers as 130,400 vote win. It can easily be fixed and perhaps it was.. but as a musician and singer myself, I will tell you that Ruben's voice is nothing special.. it doesn't have the definition, it has the feel, but not the definition.. and it lacks in range. Still, knowing the bacround of Ruben, Alabama Baptist and a straight-shooter, I think some good will come from this.

I could not agree with you more. I've always thought that the screechings of that sticklady negress Houston, sounded like a cat with it's tail caught in a fan.
Give me the pop era Linda Rondstadt or Taylor Dayne any day. But the best of all was IMHO, Pat Benatar. Dang if she did'nt have one heck of a voice and more importantly, know how to use it.

I've been snarling at my "local" news broadcasts lately... Here we are, getting Atlanta GA news -- the "capital of black America" -- where there is massive corruption and fiscal mismanagement and huge crime and so on... but they ALWAYS "have" time to show us video of a factory fire in West Nowhere Illinois, or that car chase in Out-there Wyoming... cause that "NEWS" really means a lot to us here in GA....

After seeing pictures and hearing interviews of the finalists for the first two installments of this latest example of American Decline, I was struck by the obviousness of intent behind the program. While the voting may indeed be fair, as if anyone should give a damn, it's the type of contestants presented as America's best that are both amusing and disturbing.
Most of the 'top 30' for both installments were non-white. Yep, there's more talent in all areas of human endeavor amongst non-whites. If this weren't true, the contestants wouldn't be comprised of such prime examples of superior human beings. They don't rig things for TV. No way. Of course not. Most of the males in the top 30 were black. The supreme race. At least, presented as the supreme race by the group that runs the media and regards itself as the supreme race. Most of the white males, if not all, come off as effeminate. Turd burglars. Fags. Is this something white males should aspire to? Or are the white contestants drawn from this 'pool' in order to hammer home the message that white men are less male, less manly than their congoid and mestizo counterparts? Or, are these fruitcake whites on stage to make the dusky savages from the other camps appear more appealing, more masculine, ** more desirable?** A message for all the starry eyed, gullible white teen girls out there?
I'd be willing to bet that the percentage of white 'finalists' will drop with each new installment, with it probably being impossible for a white to win this silly thing at all. Unless there is a corresponding drop in ratings. Then you may see the "Great White Hope" arise and win. But that winner will probably be a white female. I don't think you'll ever see a white male win anything like this. It wouldn't be right. Right?
Maybe I'd better not go on. The OD members with children are probably already very careful regarding what the one eyed jew can present to their kids. I wish the rest of America were so aware.
