Businessman jailed after marrying 23 teenage girls

An Egyptian businessman has been sentenced to six years hard labour after marrying 23 teenage girls.

Fawzi Mahmud al-Bahawi, 58, falsified marriage contracts for teenage girls to show 18 of the girls had reached the legal marital age of 16.

There was no suggestion al-Bahawi committed bigamy. Islamic law dictates a man can have a maximum of four wives.

In January, an Egyptian millionaire accused of marrying 29 young girls was sentenced to seven years of hard labour.

And rban runs these guys down? Man, allowing so many wives. The Islamics and the Mormons know how to live it up, keep it real, give at least the feeling of getting some 'strange'.

On the other side, some of the Islamics call us barbarians? Oh hell, everyone does. What's the use? The Egyptian's problems are all due to 'cultural misunderstanding', right?

Indian village goes vegetarian to drive out evil spirits

Residents of an entire Indian village have turned vegetarian to try to drive out evil spirits.

Residents of Bhubanpur village in eastern India believe quitting meat will cast out evil forces.

They blame the evil forces for the recent deaths of five villagers in road accidents and two more through mystery illnesses.

The villagers, seeking divine intervention, have been performing religious rituals for the last four days, reports website Sify.com.

Villager elders ordered local shops to stop selling chicken and eggs and fishermen have stopped fishing.
