MIAMI - Commissioner Bud Selig is investigating whether the Marlins followed minority hiring guidelines when they replaced manager Jeff Torborg with Jack McKeon.
"Bud's looking into it," Bob DuPuy, baseball's chief operating officer, said Tuesday.
In 1999 Selig sent a letter requiring teams to notify him about certain vacancies, including manager. Teams are to provide a list of minority candidates that the commissioner's office reviews.
The Marlins could be fined if it's determined they failed to follow Selig's guidelines. He has the power to fine teams up to $2-million.

Besides being shown a hypocrite by not hiring a black manager when he had the chance, Selig, who is actually the owner of the Milwaukee Brewers, has made moves and proposed changes in MLB that benefit only ... the Brewers. Not that he's worried about winning. He's worried about money and tax dodges.
