**Allied Occupation Forces Commit Another Massacre
by
James Buchanan
For the second time in two weeks, Allied troops have opened fired on a crowd of Iraqis. A Reuters article reports "U.S. troops shot dead at least 13 Iraqis during an anti-American protest in the town of Falluja overnight, witnesses said on Tuesday, in bloodshed sure to inflame anger at the U.S. presence in Iraq... Falluja hospital director Ahmed Ghanim al-Ali said 13 people had been killed and at least 75 wounded. Some local people gave higher estimates, saying the protesters had been demanding that troops vacate a school in the town." (Ref. 1) The Allied command is claiming that two men on a motorcycle suddenly appeared and opened fire on U.S. troops. There's just one little problem with this excuse... the Allied troops fired into a crowd of people hitting scores of innocent civilians, not the alleged gun men.
According to our political leaders, we are supposed to be setting up a "democracy" in Iraq. Our troops therefore should be behaving like police, not butchers. If a crowd of demonstrators in America were protesting, and a gunman suddenly appeared in the crowd and took a pot shot at police, the police would not have the right to gun down a large portion of the crowd in retaliation. The neocon chickenhawks are not saying very much about these atrocities. No doubt, in their minds, the Iraqis deserved to be gunned down for protesting.
In the earlier atrocity, a BBC News article (Ref. 2) noted "A US commander has admitted that American troops did shoot and kill a number of Iraqis during a protest in the northern city of Mosul... Witnesses said US troops fired into a crowd growing increasingly hostile to a speech being given by the town's newly appointed governor... reports suggest up to 15 people were killed in Mosul, with between 60 and 100 people injured."
In just two weeks, U.S. occupation troops have shot 115 civilians in the first incident and 88 civilians in the second incident, totaling 203 victims with 28 dead. Most Americans remember how outraged they were when our federal government massacred 96 Americans at Waco. Well, our military has committed two Waco's in just two weeks. In yet another incident, two Bradley Armored Fighting Vehicles at a military check point fired a dozen 25mm cannon shots at a vehicle crammed full of women and children, killing ten out of fifteen. (Ref. 3)
Despite the claims that Allied troops were fired on in the incidents with the two angry crowds, there are no reports of any wounded Allied soldiers and no reports of recovered weapons from the alleged gun men. The only undeniable evidence is a large pile of dead and wounded Iraqi civilians and the smoking machine guns held by American soldiers.
The Battle of Lexington was started during an angry protest by Americans. The British claimed that a shot was fired at them even though no British soldier was wounded. British troops responded by opening fire on a crowd of Americans. This incident permanently destroyed any chance of peacefully keeping America in the British Empire. An occupying army must be able to restrain itself and not over-react. Clearly our soldiers don't know how to occupy a Third World nation. They were trained to defend America from an outside attack, not do crowd control in a foreign land with a radically different culture and a language that few Americans understand.
The occupation is turning out to be a failure even before the war is officially declared over. One extremely alarming development is the continuing increase in troop deployment. (The Vietnam War was marked by ever increasing troop deployments as the situation there grew worse.) One article noted "The US says it will deploy up to 4,000 additional troops to boost security in Baghdad." (Ref. 4) An April 22nd article reported "The war in Iraq may be all but over, but (more) troops from Virginia to California are still being sent overseas." (Ref. 5)
The neocons told us that we would be welcomed by the Iraqi people. They predicted a mass surrender of the Iraqi army on the first day of the war. They failed to predict angry crowds of protestors, massacres by trigger happy Allied troops and the need for an escalating number of occupation troops. Let's just hope the blame for this increasing fiasco is firmly attached to the Zionist warmongers, who led us into this disaster, and all the simpletons, who believed their lies.
