Third Secret of Fatima which was finally read to the world just a few months ago. This Secret was received in July 12, 1917 and was committed to paper by Sister Lucia (one of the original three girls who claimed to have received the secret) on January 3, 1944.
Here's the complete translation of the Third Secret: "I write in obedience to you, my God, who command me to do so through his Excellency the Bishop of Leiria and through your Most Holy Mother and mine.
"After the two parts which I have already explained, at the left of Our Lady and a little above, we saw an Angel with a flaming sword in his left hand; flashing, it gave out flames that looked as though they would set the world on fire; but they died out in contact with the splendor that Our Lady radiated towards him from her right hand: pointing to the earth with his right hand, the Angel cried out in a loud voice: 'Penance, Penance, Penance!'.
And we saw in an immense light that is God: 'something similar to how people appear in a mirror when they pass in front of it' a Bishop dressed in White 'we had the impression that it was the Holy Father.'
Other Bishops, Priests, men and women Religious going up a steep mountain, at the top of which there was a big Cross of rough-hewn trunks as of a cork-tree with the bark; before reaching there the Holy Father passed through a big city half in ruins and half trembling with halting step, afflicted with pain and sorrow, he prayed for the souls of the corpses he met on his way; having reached the top of the mountain, on his knees at the foot of the big Cross he was killed by a group of soldiers who fired bullets and arrows at him, and in the same way there died one after another the other Bishops, Priests, men and women Religious, and various lay people of different ranks and positions.
Beneath the two arms of the Cross there were two Angels each with a crystal aspersorium in his hand, in which they gathered up the blood of the Martyrs and with it sprinkled the souls that were making their way to God."

Spooky find, Ed.
It's saying the whole Catholic hierarchy, including "lay people," is going to get knocked off. No wonder the Pope did not want it generally known.

Supposedly the Vatican thinks this was fulfilled in the assassination attempt on the Pope 20 years ago.

I'm not surprised to see that "1917". The "Great" War and its derivatives- its shadow of oncoming one-worldism & Bolshevism, its appalling mechanized nature, and its (then) mindboggling carnage, triggered off a ton of end-of-world and apocalyptic visions.
How many, even now, cling to dat ole fast-approaching Armageddon (like prosperity, the fiery finale is always 'just around the corner') as a comforting excuse to watch and do nothing as their world goes to hell in a handbasket?
Is a prophecy truly prophetic if it finally turns out to be self-fulfilling?

Well, you may be surprised to learn that I never believed the Fatima thing.
The much more likely explanation is that they were a bunch of lying little port-a-gee kids who, child-like, started believing their own tall tale made to impress the grown-ups in their lives. The hierarchy likewise wound up invested in the whole project as it began to take on a life of its own.
The fact that the Church officially to this day does not require of the faithful belief in this "private revelation" speaks worlds on that score.

If I recall correctly, Malachi Martin was very big on this sort of mumbo-jumbo.
I once heard him hold court on Fatima, among other topics, one of which was feeling the omnipresent power of Satan everytime he visited Vancouver. What a bizarro-world Christian he was!

Just out of curiousity, are there any other 'tall tales' with a 'life of their own' that the hierarchy wound up invested in?
If you've been hoarding information about the filioque, papal infallibility, or the immaculate conception that the rest of us are not privy to, now is the time to come clean.
Out with it!

Ummmm . . .
Nope! That's it!!

Mr. Martin should have come to Harvard Square on a weekend night. The vibrations of Satanic presence are so strong, the air almost solidifies into cold steel. ;)
