Say what you will about Jacques Chirac's attempt to deal with the US as an equal on the world stage. The fact is that he's a master politician, and his willingness to call the Americans' bluff on the pending Iraqi invasion speaks to diverse domestic and international constituencies in a way no American politician's actions currently could pull off.
During last year's French Presidential elections, Chirac faced his stiffest challenge from nationalist Jean Claude Le Pen. The Le Pen insurgency caused media excitement on both sides of the Atlantic; isolated scribes described Le Pen as reminiscent of Hitler. Soon enough, rallies in Paris and elsewhere, striking the same tone as the current anti-war movement in this country, arose in opposition to Le Pen. Never mind that Chirac has more scandals than Elvis did gold records; the global media seemed concentrated on painting a Chirac triumph as necessary for the continued health of France.

France would have lead the Western world to le gloire et le victoire * over new world order if Jean-Marie Le Pen was elected president. Many, many White French people believed in Le Pen's ideology, and many were voting for him...but the election of course was predetermined. The corrupt Chirac, while now again president, is reaping praise for adopting nationalist goals for France, which Le Pen injected into the hearts and minds of les francais.Chirac is earning huge praise for standing up to the USA against the illegal war in Iraq, although, the French people and even Chirac are not haters of Americans. Chirac however will do nothing about exporting the muslims and africans who are ruining the beautiful country of France. Je vous remercie *for posting this Okiereddust!
