Has anyone seen this Russian band. It's two beautiful young girls who are amazing singers. However their record company is promoting them by having them strut around in wet t-shirts and kissing each other. This is the end result of women's liberation.

They're not a bad band if you turn the sound off. I don't predict much of a future for them though: the whole redhead lesbian russian schoolgirls gimmick, in the absence of good music, will probably get old quickly.

I thought their singing was good. I'm not a fan of club music either, but I like their voices.
They'll be a hit among teenages as long as their record company keeps pushing the envelope, and they are still young enough to portray innocent teenage girls exploring their sexuality. They have one video were the redhead is topless and making out with a boy. The dark hairde girl builds a bomb in the bathroom and blows the three of them up suicide bomber style. I couldn't believe that one. In one of their other videos, the dark haired girl is in the bathroom masturbating.

Since I don't watch TV anymore, I've not seen their videos. However, I've heard from a Russian co-worker about the controversy. They wore t-shirts with an obsene Russian phrase to Jay Leno's show, "F uck the war". They must have been unaware that that was a crime in the US :lol:

I don't have cable, so I only get three channels. However, I downloaded all of their videos online.
And I thought Russian women were supposed to be wholesome. They are most popular in Taiwan, Japan, and Indochina right now. The orientals love looking at petite white girls. They probably aren't even controversial in the orient. Considering that Japanese cartoons have to be edited for nudity and sexuality before they are shown in America.
I think one of their videos has scenes from Triumph of the Will mixed in it.

My niece was posting on the Tatu forum and one of the threads, I don't know if it's still there, said the whole teen-lesbian thing was a big gag to see if it would sell. I heard the Russian CD they put out and it's just pop. It's really surprising that Russians are selling anything in the US media market. Americans are provincial in a lot of ways.

The CD they are selling in America is a special English version. Americans never would have bought the Russian language one, even though their songs sound a lot better in Russian. Their Russian language album became a major hit in Russia, Several Oriental Countries, New Zealand, and a few other European countries before the English version came out.
All the Lesbian and sexual content of their songs, videos, and stage act are the product of their producers. Sex sells, and they don't mind exploiting a few 17 and 18 year old girls.

I just have to add to this thread. I must say, TATY is awesome. They are the best thing to come out of Russia in along f*cking time. I actually enjoy listening to the girls, added to the fact that they are also way too hot. Maybe it's not the most "serious" music, but it's enjoyable and that's enough. The videos are very well done. Any critics of the hottys should just piss off. Lordy, I love the Tatyshke; they are sweet, end of story.
