Philadelphia Police Say Dead Man Had Missing Organs and Rope Around His Neck By Maryclaire Dale Associated Press Writer Published: Mar 1, 2003
PHILADELPHIA (AP) - Police responding to a report of a dead body turned the victim over and found his heart, a lung and other organs had been cut out. "Either ... there's a really sick person out there who wants to keep somebody's internal organs, or is there a market for this? Or are they trying to send a message?" homicide Capt. Charles Bloom said after the discovery Friday afternoon.
The victim also had a rope around his neck, police said.
A man searching for scrap metal inside an abandoned North Philadelphia house found the body lying face down and called police. Detectives found the victim's chest had been cut open from the neck to his stomach, and that his chest cavity was hollowed out.
"This wasn't done by animals," said Bloom.
Police described the victim as a black male, possibly in his 30s, who had been dead for about 24 to 48 hours. His identity was unknown.
Police were also considering the possibility that someone abused the body after the man died of natural causes or a drug overdose, Bloom said. An autopsy was scheduled for Saturday.
"This could be abuse of corpse, not necessarily a homicide," Bloom said.

When Ashcroft sets up the camps, look for Lantos & company to introduce legislation authorizing the feds to harvest healthy organs from "politically incorrect" human beings. Most likely Bush the Younger, upon signing the bill, will mention his compassionate conservative philosophy.

Tune in to Pig-Boy, Rush Limbaugh, this afternoon. It wouldn't surprise me to hear Limbaugh lauding this kind of organ harvesting as a fine example of free enterprise in America.

This story gets curiouser and curiouser. First the authorities say the corpse was that of a man apparently in his 30s. But he turns out to be 60! And his ribs and breastbone are also missing. Whoââ¬â¢s harvesting 60-year old ribs and breastbones? BBQââ¬â¢s? KFC?
Then the story devolves into gruesome Theatre of the Absurd with the bizarre quotes attributed to one Capt. Charles Bloom of Homicide.
