The War Is Starting ââ¬â And Will Come Home
By Sam Francis
Just in case you haven't bought your duct tape and bottled water this week, be advised that the war with Iraq has already started.
Last week the Washington Post disclosed in a front page story that U.S. Special Operations units are already in Iraq setting up communications networks and "laying the groundwork for conventional U.S. forces that could quickly seize large portions of Iraq if President Bush gives a formal order to go to war." [Special Operations Units Already in Iraq Washington Post, By Thomas E. Ricks, Feb 13, 2003]
Whatever else the special ops boys are up to, what this means is that war has already begun and the United States started it.
Iraq is entirely justified in launching either operations aimed at expelling the hostile military forces that have invaded it or reprisal operations against the stateââ¬ânamely, usââ¬âthat launched the invasion.
Back in the 1930s similar operations were carried out by the United States against Japan. Well before Pearl Harbor, the unit known as the "Flying Tigers," consisting of U.S. Army-trained Americans, signed up with Republican China to fight the Japanese. Japan and the United States were not yet at war or even close to war, and while the Tigers were not officially U.S. units, they were clearly engaged in de facto war against Japan.
From at least the Japanese point of view, it puts Pearl Harbor in a rather different lightââ¬ânot a "sneak attack" so much as the very sort of reprisal that one nation attacked by another is likely to launch.
Presumably the Iraqi air force (snicker) is not going to do another Pearl and probably won't even do much about the U.S. troops now inside its own borders. Those aren't the targets we need to worry about, which brings us back to the aforesaid duct tape and bottled water.
The most likely sort of counter-attack we can expect is indeed in the form of terrorism launched against civilian targets in our own country.
The most recent episode of the Osama bin Laden TV series has the international terrorist mastermind spouting solidarity with Iraq, despite the distaste that the Holy One obviously feels for the loutish infidel Saddam Hussein. The videotape, conveniently released just as decisions about war are being made in Washington, the United Nations, and Europe, was at once seized upon by the U.S. government to bolster Secretary of State Powell's claims that Osama and Saddam are in cahoots.
But the tape proves no such thing. What it certainly does prove is that Osama wants nothing more than for the United States to go to war in the Middle East as soon as possible.
By doing so, we would
# eliminate Saddam and his secularist regime,
# open the way for the eventual installation of the sort of terrorist theocracy in Baghdad that Osama wants,
# make enemies out of the entire Arabic-Muslim world for the next generation, and
# thereby make Osama bin Laden the major figure in that world for the rest of his life.
So far from substantiating the U.S. case for war against Iraq, the Osama tape in fact pulls the guts out of the administration's argument.
Moreover, for all the "irrefutable" case that Secretary Powell built against Iraq in his address to the United Nations, quite a bit of it is eminently refutableââ¬âespecially the claim, dubious on its face, that there exists what Mr. Powell called a "sinister nexus" between Iraq and Osama's Al Qaeda network.
The centerpiece of that "nexus" was the support that Iraq has supposedly given to the terrorist Abu Musab Zarqawi.
Yet this week, as the Post also reports, other U.S. officials are backing away from those claims. It is known that Zarqawi is part of Al Qaeda (well, sort of, or sometimes) and that he sought medical treatment in Baghdad last year. CIA Director George Tenet says Zarqawi has taken money from Al Qaeda but is "independent" of it, as well as of Iraq.
In fact, Zarqawi's bases in Iraq are now said to be located in areas that Saddam's regime doesn't even control.
In fact again, the administration has yet to show any hard evidence that Saddam supports Al Qaeda in any substantial way or ever hasââ¬âlet alone that Iraq had any connection to the Sept. 11 attacks.
But whatever the administration has so far failed to show through its transparent propaganda for war against Iraq may be outdated as the war America has already started picks up steam.
Whatever distance between Saddam and Osama may have existed in the past may well be about to close, in large part thanks to Washington's relentlessly belligerent policy toward Saddam, which gives him plenty of good reasons to use terrorism and terrorists against us, simply to protect himself and his regime.

It will come home, sadly, because it's eating itself, like a cancer. And "they" say there's no justice. Except the kind, as spiritual creatures, WE make. HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA... externally, in lieu of _. At least there's humor...in the meantime. HAHAHAHAHA.
Bring back the kings & even royalty of old, in the meantime, for "Christ's" sake. HAHAHAHAHA. How pathetic... ON the other hand Nietzsche would say, well, it's the best we could do... REALLY? Avalanche, herself, no jest, could do a better job. Any woman, can't... except she could.

Bad analogy. You might have cited the oil embargo, which was a US act, as justification but US pilots fighting for China while flying from China breaks no war time conventions, nor provides justification for a "sneak attack" on the soveriegn territory of the United States.
Iraq on the other hand was the agressor against Kuwait and was repelled. They then signed and ignored the terms of the treaty and have violated multiple UN resolutions in the meantime.
Trying to compare the truly imperialist ambitions of Japan in WW2 and the US of today is just crapola. Had we been in pursuit of true hedgemony in the middle east we would have seized control of Iraq's oil fields the first time around. Stupidity is more the MO...not imperialist ambition.

jeffersonian, I hear what you're saying... permit me, if possible...I'll try to be plain...it's "all" imperialistic, at that level, which is why the author is more or less as his lights allow (and what lights they are, I wish I had his lights), attempting to state the facts... to enter them as he has researched into the inevitably political CONVERSATION...
Keep in mind j. at that level, though of nations, it's all about attempting to grab, grab more, or keep the JOY stick of power...and it has to be done hiding behind, where each side's masses, yet reside...plain to all making such decisions, i.e. I CAN etc. given this or that reality... e.g. the facts on the ground, what each respective masses Want, believe etc. etc.
It's all at that level of power about force, or facade... i.e. facade meaning fraud... in other words what fraud means to you or me, and what we at our level would be held accountable for... see? OF COURSE the author prefers us; as I do, & you do... whenever you go to war, 9 out of 10 times, unless they're in your backyard or bedroom, it's fraud... UNLESS it's because where the others's masses are in relation to ours, may (perhaps) be bad, or deleterious to you, if they are left unanswered. Let's say the French won a war for a change, there'd still be china, germany, us, england, etc. etc. ... and what-?-for a few years, we'd have to enjoy french cuisine? No. It wouldn't even be that extreme. See? COMMUNISM however was something esle, since it so abrogated what human nature is...it was more severe in its application & ramifications, than the most stringent religion could be. In other words it committed the worst sin... it was too dumb. (Perhaps like me, or this post.)
No, it's about a few people (war is) moving a lot of bodies... to their own ends... IF POSSIBLE... given where are their and the other's masses... see? And what aids and abets this, is they also know, people like to fight, and don't dislike the idea of war, (until in it), because it provides them with imagery... just like the movies...
I'm just rambling along... I'm not even sure I read your post, now that I try to mentally refer back to it... I apologize... FUN.. fun's important... sorry... good name... jeffersonian... I'll have to re-read your post...

YOUR CITIES WILL BECOME DEATH-TRAPS & GRAVEYARDS

YOUR CITIES WILL BECOME PRISONS, DEATH-TRAPS, KILLING FIELDS & GRAVEYARDS
Today you enjoy relative peace and comfort, but what of tomorrow? Much is working together to destroy your peace and comfort, and if you understand your days, you know your society is fragile, dependent, interdependent, interconnected, made possible by a vast technological chain, if one link weakens, even for hours, days, certainly weeks, society will unravel, and if a major link breaks, society will begin to implode, intensifying by hours, by days, and in a weeks time, restraint will turn to raw power.
Your cities will become prisons, death-traps, killing fields, and in the end, your graveyards.
Into all cities come all things that make cities habitable: Shelter, clothing, water, food and power, and from the cities go all things that disease man: Sewage, garbage, trash and refuse. There is little sustainable life in cities without things brought in and things taken out.
FOR MOST, CITY LIFE REQUIRES EMPLOYMENT, UTILITIES AND TRANSPORTATION, AND SHOULD ANY ONE OF THESE FAIL LONG ENOUGH, OR SPREAD FAR ENOUGH, THERE WILL BE NO LIFE IN THE CITIES, AND WHEN CITIES BEGIN TO FALL, THE WORK OF DEATH BEGINS.
There will be short windows of escape for those who will not lift the sword against another. After the last window closes, those who try to leave will fall prey to maraudering armies of looters and rapists, pillagers and plunderers. They will be attacked in their homes, on the streets and as they try to leave the cities. Those that make it to the outskirts of cities will become the toys and playthings of men who have given themselves over to the blackness of their carnal natures.
After the righteous have fled, the inner cities will become battle zones between contending forces. At first it will be territorial conquests, the strongest gaining power, and then the victors will make the cities a fortresses against all outsiders, and this will continue as long as cities afford shelter, water and food, but when supplies run out, internal fighting begins, and the strong will kill the weak, and then, when all sustenance is gone, they will leave the cities and scour the country-side seeking survival, and whoa be to any found on lonely farms with but a few people.
They will advance from metropolitan areas, to large cities, to small cities, to rural villages--they come, a vast army, a horde of wickedness unlike has been seen in the history of man. Cannibalism will become a way of life, and men will hunted not only for their possessions but for food.
The only defense in these times will be with those who have gathered together, organized, planned, and who go forth to meet the enemy at the borders of their fortifications (do not underestimate those who have succumbed to their darkest nature, for they are driven by survival, and will fight to the death). Among them will be many innocents who have been thrust among them and carried along with them, both men, women and children--many prisoners. You will know the innocent from the wicked, for the innocent will refrain, hold back, while the wicked will rush forward to embrace life or death, for they come to survive, or be killed.
During these times, when a man asks you for bread, deny him not, for to do so brings destruction, while sharing, even your last morsel, brings life to you and your household, your village, your fortress, your compound.
The destroyer will move among the children of men, and by this token--GIVING FOOD AND SHELTER, OR DENYING FOOD AND SHELTER--you bring life or death upon yourself and your household. This is a time of great sifting and purifying, and when the days are full, and the wicked have turned from their wicked ways, all who remain will be of one mind, one spirit, even the Spirit of God, and the land will be filled only with those that love others as they love themselves.
Any who take by force, will, in due time, lose their life, and his household with him. Any who deny the request of the hungry, will, reap as he sows.
The days ahead are not days to trifle with, they are days of testing, separating the wheat from the tares; it is a great test, a great divider of men. For the just and merciful will receive justice and mercy, and the workers of darkness will receive the darkness they rewarded others.
During the darkest of these days, many innocent will die, but if men understood death, they would not mourn, for the righteous man in that day will be received into righteousness, and the righteous man who remains, will be among the righteous, and the Earth will be transformed into Heaven on Earth, thus both the righteous living and the righteous dead, live in joy.

jeffersonian says he got my point... after first calling me an idiot and telling me to first work on myself... Perfect. Seriously, jeffersonian, I AGREE. (seriously, again, now I've got to get back to and study, your post, which I prematurely commented upon after only scanning...but you say I wasn't too far off...) See?FUN is good too!!
j. you felt something after mine...you were ANGRY  later, you apparently reconsidered, somewhat... as the lyric goes "who could ask for anything more?" keep up the good work...you being wise enough prudently adopted on one level, one of the great themes...'physician heal thyself!' Perfect. Imperfect is perfect, except when there's a good rabbi around...then, perfect is perfect... (so few good rabbis, though.) j. does "j." stand for Jewish as well, in the good sense!?!
