Jury is split in "Wetback" rape trial jurors fail to do thier job!

Jury is split in rape trial of Dominguez-Jimenez, a native of Honduras who spoke to the court through a Spanish interpreter. The woman suffered a large vaginal laceration on the night of the alleged sexual assault, and three doctors testified that she could have bled to death if she hadn't received medical attention.

Faust, a jury's job is not necessarily to convict. The physical injury notwithstanding, which could be a result of consensual sex, this looks like a classic he-said/she-said.

One article really isn't enough to decide if the jury should have convicted. But, I don't see any woman consenting to an act resulting in a large laceration, unless she was drunk and numb (no mention of that). On the other hand, they apparently knew each other and he says they've had previous sexual relations (did she deny it). I'd want to know how long they've known each other and why she took a ride home from him. But, it does look like he-said, she-said (a tie goes to the defendant).

But, the real story for us here at OD is that both parties were 3rd-world immigrants. They're both sucking up government services without paying taxes, collecting EIC "welfare", etc. And, when they go to trial the jury has to deal with the language barrier and fewer people in this country who speak English, the greater that problem will be. In this case, the language issue probably caused a hung jury so us taxpayers will have to pay for a new trial.
