Suspect ran on supremacist platform

Onetime candidate for Caledonia board faces gun charges after FBI raid

By TOM KERTSCHER tkertscher@j... Last Updated: Dec. 24, 2002

Franksville - The man arrested by the FBI at his home here Monday ran a white supremacist campaign for the Caledonia Town Board in 1990 just before shooting the teenage brother of one of his skinhead friends.

Michael Kenneth Faust, 35, "mostly stays in the house," 12-year neighbor Deborah Vinkavich said Tuesday.

Aside from his white supremacist views, "that's all anybody knows about him, (that) he's just a little strange," she said.

As many as 20 law enforcement officers from the FBI and local police agencies converged on Faust's home about 7:30 a.m. Monday, Vinkavich said. She said she called Caledonia police after seeing a rifle- toting, camouflaged man - later determined to be an officer - run through her yard, she said.

Faust, along with a Chinese-made, AK-47-style rifle and other guns, was taken into custody without incident, the FBI said.

Authorities made the arrest based partly on the statement of a 19- year-old Racine man who said he was a member of the National Socialist Movement and other white supremacist organizations. That man, Adam J. Goltz, ...................................

Ed,

I'm guessing that this "Faust" is not the Faust on OD, our old friend, PP from Sam Francis, as he made a post here about forty minutes earlier than your post. At least I hope not.

Why is it..... when the Jew doctor in Florida plans to blow up mosques...or when Rubin gets popped for attempting to kill a Congressman....nobody in the press

a) pulls out ominous terminology from the 'terrorist' drawer to describe the perp

or

B) asks the nearest 12-year-old for an assessment of their character ("he wore that stupid little hat and turned off all the lights every Friday night")?

Anyhow I'm sure it ain't our Faust....just a Faust.

**As many as 20 law enforcement officers from the FBI and local police agencies **

How was it a federal offense?

"Authorities made the arrest based partly on the statement of a 19- year-old Racine man who said he was a member of the National Socialist Movement and other white supremacist organizations."

Is it against the law to belong to a national socialist movement?

No, it's not. But various news stories continue to imply that it is. "Alleged white supremacist" etc. We've all seen that sort of thing.

How was it a federal offense?

A felon possessing a firearm violates state law. I don't know where the federal charges could come from.

It's not technically against the law to be NS, but of course everything you do or have done will be filtered through this lens should you run afoul of the "just-us" system.

Oh, and the gun control act of 1968 made it the feds' business if a felon has a gun or not, along with a lot of other onerous crap like the wonderful FFLs and 4473s.

And how have the courts reconciled this with the Constitution? Did they really stretch the Commerce Clause this far?
