"A defiant Brooklyn mom has kept her 14-year-old daughter out of her high school the entire year because she considers it too dangerous - and she's willing to go to jail over the matter. Alexandra has not been in school for six months. She's missed the first 31/2 months of her freshman year - and no one has noticed.

Hate to say it, but I'd leave. Why put up with authorities like that? Just leave the area and go to a safer district. If you can't beat them, leave them.

He looks like the arch villain Simon bar Sinister from the "Underdog" cartoons of my childhood.

Speaking of which, that was an interesting cultural phenomenon. You had an evil sterotyped Jew as the mastermind of all evil, who was trying to corrupt Sweet Polly Purebread in various ways, only to be stopped by the ubermensch/superdog Underdog. Lots of Nazi ideas in Underdog.

What was the deal with that?
