Most discussion, understanding, and analysis of the Inquisition is facile at best. The REAL reason(s) behind the Inquisition cannot be discussed honestly because they are so damning to the Jews.
From historian Frederick W. Marks (Ph.D., Univ. of Mich) in A Brief for Belief (Queenship Publ., 1999):
"The Inquisition had little to do with nonbelievers and everything to do with 'fifth column' Catholics... trying to undermine Church and state from within."
...
"As Christians gradually reestablished themselves, large numbers of Jews 'converted' in order to retain their political and social standing, and not a few among them proceeded to undermine the new regime from within."
...
"Jews were not only perceived as undermining the state religion but also as being contemptuous of Gentiles. It is from this period that the epithet 'Christian dog' ('perro Christiano') is said to date. Although they were far from numerous-- only 25,000 fanilies in all-- their lockhold on trade and money-lending tended to fan the flames of fear and resentment. ...[I]n Cuenca during the famine of 1376 they refused to lend for sowing at less than 40%."

Despicable cowardly behavior by Jews has been noted throughout history. But in the America of today nobody will comment publicly. What a shame!!! We have much to learn from the past.> A century before Dostoevsky while pondering the fall of Rome, Edward Gibbon pronounced Jews a distinct species who boldly professed, or faintly disguised, their implacable hatred of the rest of the human race. Maimonides, presently more famed as a seer, was a rabbi when Islamic Moors ruled Spain. His attitude may explain why Jews were expelled after Christians regained control of Spain. Yet when an opportunity came to ally themselves with the Persians, Jews did so willingly. Their "furious bigotry" compensated for their lack of discipline and lack of valor. The massacre of 90,000 Christians was imputed to Jews and Arabs. Gibbon and his opinions would not be considered acceptable in the higher schools of today's America. The defeat of the French in Quebec gladdened him as he contemplated the spread of his English language over the new world. Gibbon would not grace banquet tables where multicultural fellowship was lauded. His redemption was his writing the greatest history ever written in his native language.
At one time in the life of this republic their repugnant behavior was noted and publicly posted:> Historical wrongs and achievements were chronicled in this insert into the Congressional Record. The expulsion of 165,000 Jews from Spain in 1492 was noted. Commiseration was extended to the Jewish community of Segovia, which passed their last three days in the Jewish cemetery while fasting and wailing over being parted from their beloved dead. That Jews were expelled along with Muslims was not noted. The expulsion of Muslims from Spain marked a great day in the rise of the West. That Jews also were thrown out was of secondary interest. Committed scholars could find the 12 questions of Napoleon of France to the Sanhedrin of France with answers supplied by the Jewish Elders in the same entry.
Perhaps we better start learning the gladiator salute in Latin, maybe then we will connect to the past.

OK, GIbbon was onto Maimonides and that underground strain in Judaic teachings that is directly anti-gentile.

They don't want Christians to delve too deeply into the Talmud. Catholics, especially; Protestants, such as myself, they don't care about so much, since there is no tradition of anti-Jewish teaching, and a more scholarly approach is expected. It really is too much of a stretch, to pass from understanding truths about Jewish history, back to Rome and rehearsing gladiator salutes. ("We who are about to die salute you??" - go kiss Commodus ) Rome has nothing to do with anything, anymore, and Spain's inquisition was hardly the work of Jewish conspirators.
Some further history from Pranaitus:
"In 553 the Emperor Justinian forbade the spread of the Talmudic books throughout the Roman Empire. In the 13th century, Popes Gregory IX and Innocent IV condemned the books of the Talmud as containing every kind of vileness and blasphemy against Christian truth, and ordered them to be burned because they spread many horrible heresies.
"Later, they were condemned by many other Roman Pontiffs -- Julius III, Paul IV, Pius IV, Pius V, Gregory XIII, Clement VIII, Alexandra VII, Benedict XIV, and by others who issued new editions of the index of FOrbidden Books...
"At the beginning of the 16th century, when the peace of the Church was disturbed by new religions, the Jews began to distribute the Talmud openly, aided by the art of printing recently invented. The first printed edition of the whole Talmud, containing all the blasphemies against the Christian religion, was published in Venice in the year 1520"
But at a Synod in Poland in 1631, while the blood of the 30 years war over those "new religions" was flowing -- the birth of Protestantism -- the Rabbi's of Germany "declared that nothing which would annoy the Christians and cause persecution of Israel should be printed." For which reason, many things were missing from surviving mainstream texts.
"However, Jewish books were published later with very few mutilations in Holland -- where the Jews who were expelled from SPain were kindly received. The Talmud published there in 1644 -1648 is almost similar to the Venetian edition."
As to what those blasphemous things that might annoy Christians were, many, I think, would be shocked. Not I, however. There must be tons of similar jive stored up in old boxes somewhere.

"The Talmud teaches that Jesus Christ was illegitimate and was conceived during menstruation; that he had the soul of Esau; that he was a fool, a conjurer, a seducer; that he was crucified, buried in hell and set up as an idol ever since by his followers."

But Christians are also called by the names used in the Talmud to designate all non-Jews (esp)...Akum: This word is made up of the initial letters of the words Obhe Kakhabkim U Mazzaloth -- worshippers of stars and planets.. It was thus that Jews formerly styled the Gentiles who lacked all knowledge of the true God..."
ARTICLE II. - What the Talmud Teaches About Christians
"...In fact, nothing more abominable can be imagined than what they have to say about Christians. They say that they are idolaters, the worst kind of people, much worse than the Turks (...I liked that one...), murderers, fornicators, impure animals, like dirt, unworthy to be called men, beasts in human form, worthy of the name of beasts, cows, asses, pigs, dogs, worse than dogs; that they propagate after the manner of beasts, that they have diabolic origin, that their souls come from the devil and return to the devil in hell after death; and that even the body of a dead Christian is nothing different from that of an animal." Now, thats political correctness for you.
I am not trying to instigate by bringing these things up. Exactly the opposite. They are part of the past, therefore silent participators in the present unless faced up to and sent their way.
"III. CHRISTINS TO BE HARMED IN LEGAL MATTERS
1. A Jew May Lie and Perjure Himself to Condemn a Christian . In Babha Kama (113a) it says:
"Our teaching is as follows: When a Jew and a Goi come into court, absolve the Jew, if you can, according to the laws of Israel. If the Goi wins, tell him that is what our laws require. If however, the Jew cannot be absolved according to gentile law, absolve him and say it is due to our laws. If this cannot be done roceed callously against the Goim, as Rabbi Ischmael advises. Rabbi Akibha, however, holds that you cannot act fraudulently lest you profane the Name of GOd, and have a Jew committed for perjury." A marginal note, however, explains this qualification of Rabbi Akibha as follows: "The name of GOd is not profaned when it is not known by the Goi that the Jew has lied." And further on, the Babha Kama (113b) says:
"The name of God is not profaned when, for example, a Jew lies to a Goi by saying 'I gave something to your father, but he is dead; you must return it to me,' as long as he Goi does not know that you are lying."
One gets to thinking Pranaitus might be making some of this stuff up, but I'll close by letting him cite the last word, from PART TWO, Chapter I "CHRISTIANS MUST BE AVOIDED -- Article I. --Because They Are Unworthy to Share Jewish Customs.
"A Jew, by the fact that he belongs to the chosen people and is circumcized, possesses so great a dignity that no one, not even an angel, can share equality with him. In fact, he is considered almost an equal of God. "He who strikes an Israelite", says Rabbi Chanina "acts as if he slaps the face of God's Divine Majesty."
But this is old, old....too much to live up to; too much to live down. Such vivid beauty, anyone can see that. Why...?
